Cafe Baku reviews
60 The food here is awesome and has lots of options. Recommend berry granola muesli, it’s very healthy and delicious, and Baku steak sandwich, also my friend likes the snapper fillet.
However, the two islander ladies’ attitude at the counter towards us are damn rude. We had redirected to the cafe counter for choosing drinks and lady there pretended ignored when we ask “if we can order now” and showed a contemptuous smile when she heard that we want to order at there.and the other one heard our pronunciation was not 100% correct for the dish’s name, she flashed a look of contempt, and even when we back to her to order and check the price, the whole process making us feel uncomfortable and rude. And somehow the waiter/waitress kept asking if they can take the plates away while we are still eating and waiting for food.
It’s easy to just tell us nicely that we should order at the other counter and correct our pronunciation without rude attitudes. We are traveling here for chilling and relaxing, but they made our moods worsehope they manage the working attitude better
I have been at this cafe before. But this time it wasn’t worth it.
The portions are so small that it isn’t worth the price. The works breakfast needs to be a full plate but it wasn’t worth it.
Very disappointed. Use to be the best cafe in Taupo.
The best almond croissant that I ate in the entire NZ!
Good place I recommend!
More over, I would like to acknowledge one of the staff who shake my hand after the Rugby match between NZ and France, I really appreciate
As coffee lovers, we migrate to where the locals buy their coffee. This is takeaway coffee to rival all. We grabbed a normal and almond milk cappuccino and they were delicious. Hot enough so that as we drank, it was still “coffee”. Sadly I was 10km out of town when I finished and wanted another cup.
I think I expected more from a cafe of such reputation. Was a tad disappointed with food and service. Will try it again, maybe they werejusthaving a difficult day
We are local to Taupo and eat here fairly regularly and have always enjoyed the food. Was quite disappointed when we went for lunch today. My husband's mussels were very small and there were only 6, there was no sauce as stipulated on the menu and toast instead of garlic wedges. My Mediterranean platter was lovely except the falafel which were overcooked and crunchy right through, quite disappointing
Wonderful and cozy bar to have a breakfast. Great choices and wonderful chocolate with almond croissant
Ordered eggs benny and added extra's breakfast sausage and potatoe rosti - it was delicious! Amazing! Good quality food.one of the best eggs benny i've had.will be going back there when in Taupo:)
My partner and I drive through Taupo at least once per year for family trips and we always stop at Cafe Baku. The Cafe is beautiful, the service is great, and the food is tasty but today we decided to get up and go next door. There are such few vegan options but so many keto options that it actually put us off from eating there. Please consider providing more vegan options on the menu, one item in particular I would love to see (and could very easily be made vegan) is the mushroom fricassee, it sounds so delicious and all you have to do is swap cream for an equally delicious plant based cream and nobody would even know the difference but the plant based crowd would be very appreciative. I will keep an eye out for any menu changes but until then we will look elsewhere: (
Have breakfast here most days. Cannot beat the excellent staff, or the awesome food.
Not a single complaint.
Three days we had breakfast there and three days of very happy customers.
Fantastic food, coffee and service
Such an amazing choice of food. Great coffee. Large premises so not sitting shoulder to shoulder.
My last visit was quite disappointing in terms of service (2 meals arrived 1/2 hour after everyone else's.) Re-coup was a free coffee. Good save on their part. I will go back
Fantastic customer service - lovely to see friendly staff who are happy for a little bit of banter. Appreciate the kindness
Always good and my go to when I’m in Taupo.
Coffee on point and the cheese scone is delicious!
This café is sooo cheap and the food is absolutely delicious! I had eggs on toast with mushroom on the side and the portion of mushroom was so generous, neatly presented and cooked in the most juicy delicious gravy ever! We got 2 meals, 2 sides, and 2 hot drinks for $37! Really happy. Wish this place was in Auckland.
Beautiful views beautiful set up wide range of food options lovely staff fast and friendly service my new taupo fav
Delicious breakfast, super speedy and very yummy and fluffy coffee, especially since they were full and we thought we would have to wait for ages. Great service, the cabinet food looks amazing also.
Lovely place and food here. Different from any other restaurants around. Baku is a capital of Azerbaijan and the owners must be bringing some great flair to its food and presentation. If you are from a former Soviet republic and nostalgic for a minute, try Reuben sandwich
Great food - great selection / good ambience - th Ed most divine lemon curd pancakes! A tip go and sit in their seating opposite the cafe / a view of the Lake
