Chilli Cove reviews
33I ordered mushroom tikka but it’s wasn’t fresh. It’s look like freeze from long time. Within half an hour I got stomach pain and can’t find pharmacy late night. I visited for one night. Panner tikka masala and naan was good. Service good as well.
Fantastic place! Great food! Outstanding service! We walked in at 1: 55pm and they were nice enough to stay open to accommodate. And get the full menu it's worth it. The food is an explosion of flavours. A must have is the crispy cauliflower it's out of this world with texture and flavour. The best mango lassi I've had. The curry on the hot plate was quite a presentation. We just had to order more food to take home. Highly recommend this place in Whangamata considering all other places in town offer sub standard menus.
The food is delicious and it is big portions, and the service is really good, friendly and warm. The desert wasn't too great but maybe that's because of personal taste. They have tables inside and tables outside on a street that no cars can pass so that's good. I would come back if I were in the area
Truly amazing food! My partner from India is a bit pickier when it comes to trying Indian restaurants in Nz, but we listened to the great reviews for Chilli Cove and gave it a try. We were both so glad we did, my partner was pleasantly surprised!
Best biryani I’ve ever had, my partner and I ate the heck out of our goat biryani (super tender, moist and flavourful) and lamb seekh kebab with mint sauce (also a flavour punch to my tastebuds). We took away a biryani for a friend too who rated it No. 1 out of all the biryanis he’s had so far in the North Island (I agree!). Great portions for both the biryani and kebab too, my partner and I shared it between us with a drink each, and we felt well-fed!
The waiter was a super lovely man too with a kind smile, he made us feel very comfortable! The restaurant has an easygoing atmosphere, well-lit in the afternoon during summer from natural light. Definitely will be back again, my partner is already looking forward to coming back with more of our friends!
Me and my partner had been pretty dissapointed with the standards of indian food in NZ until we came here, really good curries and okra, fluffy rice.yum
Lovely attentive staff, generous, meaty portions, imaginative menu, all round great experience.
Service was friendly and welcoming. One of the best Indian food restaurant.kadai paneer or butter chicken was delicious. Must visit here for best Indian food.
Prices up, Quality gone down, no taste anymore, used to be my favourite place. Not anymore, Sad
We enjoyed a large group set menu. The food was fast, fresh and delish. Very generous and super child friendly. Thank you AJ and Co.
Had dinner here and one the best Indian food I have ever had in New Zealand. Guys please try them and if you are in whangamata do not forget to order from them and please do bookings they normally busy every night. That lamb and prawn dish is so delicious. Thank you for having us! ️
Visited many restaurants in all NZ but this is the one of the BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN NZ. Service, food, decor everything is perfect. Couldn't find better than this anywhere else. Keep it up guys. Will see you soon again. Tried again same taste and best service in town. Thank you.
Amazing Indian food! Staff are exceptionally friendly and accomodating of dietary requirements. They even made us gluten free roti which was delicious!
Such a great experience - we didn’t have a booking and the restaurant was really busy but they found us a table. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Even though it was a busy night and we were warned there would be a wait on food, everything was brought out really quickly which was a nice surprise. Highly recommend the cheesy garlic naan and the mango lassi.
We are travelling on a trip around the north island from Oz and was recommended this place by our air Bnb host. The food was exceptional and we would rate it a 6/5 - especially the glazed cauliflower. The mustard fish was fabulous too but a little too much sauce compared to fish ratio, but the taste exquisite. The waitress seemed completely overwhelmed and was working front of house on her own with a full house, so service was very slow. If you can put up with very slow service the food is fabulous.
Best Indian food in town. Service at his best well done front house. Been there for few times and they taking care of customers very well. Keep it up guys.
The service was amazing, especially for a young front of house crew. The food was also fantastic, really tasty. A real clean and tidy establishment. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Great food and friendly staff! Definitely check this place out for a decent curry and nice atmosphere!
Not welcoming to outsiders. Told front of house twice we wanted to dine in and they packed our food in takeaway containers. We purchased enough for a family of 4 with extra so we regret spending our money here. We were also looking forward to dessert but left when we were given our food in that way. Was 8.30pm and other patrons were all eating on proper plates. Won't return here we felt very uncomfortable.

What a great find. So much, we went back the next night. The samosas were generous and fresh, and the honey Cauliflower entree was devine. We had the Lamb with drunken prawns. Beautifully cooked and generous portion. The owner came out and said hello and to check we were happy. We were:)
