First Step Outdoors

The POWA Twilight Glow worm Kayaking event was brilliant! We had such a great time, very professional, fun, safe and the glow worms were magical.
Riverside Adventures were a fabulous partner and would highly recommend. Can't wait for the next adventure!

This is a fantastic day out for female teenagers and their mums who are keen to experience some outdoors adventure in a safe environment. The staff are wonderful, extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and supportive. We had a fabulous day and highly recommend.

I had the most amazing time at the Women's Only Adventure Day on 21 May. The staff were super professional and friendly (and all women too!), the food was delicious and even going alone I felt very welcomed into the group of women. I was hesitant about whether I could do all of the activities but loved that I could give things a try without judgement. WONDERFUL.

Have been to 2 womens adventure days run by first step outdoors and have had an amazing time! They are well organised, friendly, knowledgeable and always up for a good laugh. Cannot recommend them enough!

I had a wonderful time on the half day caving trip. Fantastically organized, this trip was achievable for all and loads of fun. Kate and her team were encouraging and offered challenges for all levels. Would definitely recommend this outer world experience

I attended a 1/2 day caving adventure. It was well organised, fun, informative and a fantastic introduction to caving with a great team.

Outstanding and very knowledgable instructors who educated a large group of 70 students across this recent week. Students and teachers had loads of fun sailing, kayaking, caving, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and being in the outdoors! Could not have asked for a better week! We will definitely be back!

The caving adventure I took part in was incredible. Definitely outside my comfort zone but was laden to feel at ease with the amazing guides. Had such a blast and can't wait for the next adventure!

Excellent facilitation, super fun and supportive environment, lovely dorms. We were kept warm and toasty all night. Activities were so much fun and empowering. Definitely will be back

Absolutely Fantastic! We went as a group of 15 we had 15yr to 44yr olds we did abseiling, rock climbing, zip lining and so so much. The team at First Step Outdoors were informative, supportive, enthusiastic and encouraging! I highly recommend First Step Outdoors.

The Pirongia Forest Park facilities are excellent with stunning views of the Waikato countryside.

Fantastic day out for us at Pirongia Forest Park Lodge. Kate and her team certainly have experience and abundant knowledge of the maunga making it interesting and educational for the class. Highly recommend this venue and team.

Kate and her team are 1st class. Always a smile and a bundle of energy. The centre has all the facilities you could need for an outdoor adventure and Kate will taylor a program especially to your needs. Kate also assisted me with developing my own outdoor education programme within schools as well as upskilling my own capacity as an instructor.

This is a Great experience! Very professional. I felt safe the whole way through the cave experience. Very informative along the way. I like to learn new things every day and I definitely did on this day. Would love to do another cave experience with this team again.

Did the Karamu Caves experience with wonderful friendly guides Rachel and Kate. They were both very informative and made us feel at ease underground. They ensured everyone could have a laugh and really enjoy themselves. I would highly recommend First Step Outdoors to any school/community/sports groups to do the Caves!

Over the last 5 years both of my children have participated in activities that Kate has facilitated at the lodge and offsite and I have always been impressed by the level of professionalism and safety. This combined with the absolute enjoyment that the kids get out of taking part in these adventurous challenges makes for a first-class outing every time.
