Harker Reserve (Vivian Falls) reviews
47Only a ten minute walk from the car park to this amazing waterfall, hidden away in a mini tropical paradise. Boots recomended for the slope and steep steps, but rope handle helps you down. This was our 129th waterfall in a quest to see all, follow along at Pack Lunch and Travel youtube channel.
Hidden way to the falls in the end of nice small country road. 5 minutes walk but to see the falls is worth it. There is small car park, go right after it on the left and there will be path to the falls.
Nice walk. Good track, except at the moment part of it is blocked due to a slip. The bypass is a little dodgy but ok.
Nasty place, horrible history, who eats their brother inlaw? Sick stuff, unfortunately that's NZ and that signage board should be cut down with a Sthil chainsaw
Easy access and great waterfall when the water is flowing highly recommend for any weekend outdoor adventure
Totally depends ds o your requirements. We had 4 car loads of purple going and our car was delayed by 40 minutes and I was dismayed that we would be walking in while the rest of our group would be walking out. Imagine our surprise on parking to discover that we only had a 4 minute walk instead of the 40 minute walk every one else had because they had parked on the other side of the valley.
A very pleasant surprise. I've never heard of the falls and only saw them pinpointed on maps. Decided to do a slight detour to have a look.
A short walk then steep steps with a rope handrail. The rocks at the bottom of the steps are slippy.
Two informative boards (one in Maori, one in English) explaining how the falls play a part in the Maori tribal wars.
Lovely, peaceful walk through the Bush at Harkers reserve. No crowds! The waterfall was impressive for a short drop.
The waterfall is seperate to the walk and quick to get to although quite steep. Nice enough waterfall. The walk was pretty. We didn't get to the end because of a tired kid. Worth checking out for a nature work in the area
Beautiful water fall but not the one if you’re wanting to have a bit of a walk first. Was only 2 mins walk from the carpark.
Absolutely Beautiful and natural spot off the beaten track near Onewhero. You might need your GPS to find it though. You can walk the track or drive up the metal road. No car park just a turning area. Then walk 50 or so metres up the track to find the gate to the falls. A short downhill walk and your there at the falls in the middle of the bush. A historic site quite some atmosphere!
Lovely shady walk through relatively open bush to a beautiful waterfall with an interesting history. Read all about it when you get there!
Wow this plc is a li'l gem. Bit slippery & wet 2day, come summer when th weather warms up I'll definitely b back for a swim.nice hiking trail & th waterfall well wot can I say special ️.
Powerful waterfall after rain by a rocky outlook. Firstly, getting there, the turnoff to Miller Rd may be a road one with cardboard on it. Parking is on quite thick gravel, don't get stuck. Very close to parking spot down a bank to the left, past sign, is the waterfall. The rocks are extremely slippery, the upside is you can get great shots, get selfies if you must, and read the sign to learn the amazing history.
Harker Reserve we did the 4.87km return walk to the beautiful 12m high Te Wai Heke O Maoa (Vivian) Falls
Easy walk, dogs allowed highly recommend.
Beautiful reserve with a well marked trail. Dirt and gravel path which is wide and suitable for a mountain buggy style pram in most places except the small loop track. This is steep, narrow, and lovely! Don't forget to walk to Victoria Falls while you're hear. Access to reserve from both ends of the walk.
Very short walk to the waterfall. We were expecting a hike. Beautiful spot. Kind of hard to trek around the area so we didn't stay long. Nice view but not much else as far as exploring with kids.
A great location, short drive from the main road, the last ~1 km is gravel road. From the car park the falls are a 10 min walk downhill. The cliffs under the falls are covered in slime/moss - be careful. Would go again for a short shower as it was amazing on a hot summer day.
Nice little walk in nature. Pity about the state of sign in Māori covered in moss where as English was clean and tidy
Fantastic spot to chill out in summer.feels like you're at a location for a movie shoot. A picturesque 12 metre waterfall to enjoy safely by sitting on the rocks under. We did the 1.5 hour bush walk in Harker Reserve - so the waterfall was the perfect cool off. Kiwi summerness ahh Added bonus: It is a pooch-friendly spot. Dogs welcome.
