Hayes Common reviews
81I mean, what’s not to love!? You can’t go wrong. Our #1 fave place to detour to when driving through Hamilton. As a wee added extra this visit we were given a doggy menu for our Labrador, so had to partake. Xx
Had a lovely brunch with friends here. Our coeliac was nicely catered for.
Would highly recommend
Been several time during opening hours and to some amazing private functions. Very obliging with dietary needs and great customer care.
This used to be 5 stars.
Recently came back here after a year which had previously been great. We arrived and they had no outside tables which was absolutely fine and were asked if we wouldn't mind waiting for one to free up. We asked for an ETA and was told 15 minutes by the on duty manager. We were happy with that and went inside for some coffee whilst we waited. After waiting for 45 minutes and watching plenty of outside tables fill up with walk ins I asked the manager if there was now a table free. Initially they looked very mad and then realised we had probably been waiting a while and asked us to follow them and we were seated. After about 20 minutes outside one of the waitresses came over confused asking us if we had a chance to order, we said no and got menus. After ordering our food, I had tiny strips of over cooked fish with soggy chips, and a friend had a hair in their communer big breakfast. Overall, not sure what's happened to what used to be a great place. Can no longer recommend.
Food was delicious, staff were friendly and attentive and the place had a warm cozy air about it, dog friendly also which is pretty cool. Loved it here, definitely recommend
Incredible setting - quietly tucked away close to the river.
Great service. Great coffee. Yummy breakfast of poached eggs. Reasonable prices.
Delicious food. Great service despite being down on staff members today. A fave among dog owners everywhere with the river walk just across the road
Cool place with a great vibe. It was super busy when we arrived and had to wait a few minutes before being seated, but once we were seated the food and drinks came in good time considering how busy they were.
Food and cocktails were delicious, and staff were friendly.
Georgia and Jesse were exceptional in their customer service and pastoral care with my family when we dined here. Highly recommend Hayes Common not only for their delicious food but also the wonderful care they provide!
Long wait as it was very popular. The host noticed my daughter was cold and bought a blanket which was a nice touch. Menu was a bit too exotic and epicurean for our plain tastes. But a great place for a tasty food experience and something you can't make at home.
Took a bus load of charity workers there for lunch. They loved it. Good food and good prices. Dine in.
We went at peak lunch time and were greeted with such friendly and quick service. Food was delicious and the place was very toddler friendly with crayons, colouring sheets and toys to keep our twins entertained. Awesome place!
Portion sizes and prices a little mismatched in my opinion.two hour dining limit? Adequate table service.the general experience is not what it was a few years ago.outdoor seating area has a good atmosphere.lots of parking.
H. C.was great for a 'bestie lunch'.
We've both worked in top restaurants for 30 years (my friend is a chef) and we couldn't fault anything. The food (we shared 3 smaller plates, so were 'grazing') was stunning. The Central Otago Rosè was a perfect match. Thankyou!
Came in with my 2 year old and 6 month old and these guys went put of the way to help me out this morning and made it a lovely experience. Thanks.
Awesome food and coffee. Very friendly and prompt service. Gave colouring in stuff to the kids right away to help keep them entertained.
Dog friendly which is great as the kids love meeting new dogs.
The excellent personalised service at Hayes Common begins the moment we enter the door. Coffee and scones with chutney are morning tea ‘musts’. Dinner meals are beautifully
plated and always delicious. Outside dining is a lovely option too.
Stylish, superb coffee, delicious food and truly impeccable service. This is our go-to for weekend brunch. I can’t fault it. Worth travelling for.
A perfect meeting place with great food. Make the most of the great weather and also enjoy a riverside stroll.
The drinks were delicious but I was reminded on several occasions how long we had to drink them. While the drinks sat at the bar and I waited to drink them. Very poor service of great drinks.
