We were visiting Coromandel and stopped by for dinner and beer. Delicious pizza and kumara fries and beer brewed on-site. Lucked out and got to try their new fried dough dessert the first time they served it—and came with some of the best vanilla ice cream we’ve ever tried. It has a wonderful community-oriented feel, very dog- and kid-friendly. People who come regularly clearly love it!

Great brewery run by great people. Tasty beers and awesome pizza. Andy and his family were amazing hosts and even helped find us some shovels for hot water beach.

This place is absolutely wonderful. Right from the start our daughter enjoyed playing in the play area they have for kids. And she took to the doggies. The pizzas are to die for! We polished it off in minutes! And the beer tasting paddle is such a great opportunity to learn about the local brews. The people there are friendly and fun. Loved every minute of being here.

Do not miss this incredible find. The quality of the food and home brewed beer along with the delightful family that runs the place makes this a destination in itself. Watching the charming well mannered children (there are nine of them!) chip in to help out adds another dimension of delight to the experience. Such an establishment run by this lovely family gives one great hope for the future along with the satisfaction of a wonderful dining experience.

What a vibe of a place! Food is outstanding! Very wholesome and generous. The family who runs it are very cool. They also cater for vegetarians and vegans.

Under new ownership and starting to hit their straps. Great hosts and good surroundings to share a meal and drinks. We will definitely go back.

We enjoyed some dumplings and locally brewed beer. The Hazy was delicious! The food was generous sizing and very tasty. Fantastic value for money and good service. Will be back for sure!

The new owners have really taken this place to the next level. The beer tasting tray is very generous - 7 beers to try! Had the Margherita wood fired pizza, was generous and delicious. Awesome place to pop in for lunch on the way to hot water beach or cathedral cove. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Highly recommend.

Customer service is next level and the pizzas are the best in NZ! The craft beer is delicious and the best hazy I’ve ever had. Such a great atmosphere and the new owners Andy and Deb and their family are an awesome bunch who go out of their way to welcome you and include them in their family.

Friendly staff and a nice buzz. Beer tasting platter was the best range of beers we've tasted in New Zealand! The Hazy IPA came home with us in a take-out.

We asked The Family to host our wedding reception with less than a week's notice.

A beautiful big table was made for us and the staff were brilliant at improvising with pizzas, dishes, and desserts as the evening progressed.
Couldn't recommend enough, from start to finish Deb & Andy put us totally at ease and made our wedding reception a resounding success. Thank you!

We came in a few days ago as a large group of adults & young kids travelling from Kapiti. The staff were so lovely and accomodating, service was incredible! The pizzas were delicious and there was even a playground for the kids. Thank you so much! ️

Wow what a find hidden in a camp ground.

The owner, brewer and staff were so helpful and friendly. As a home brewer, the head brewer went out of his way to spend time with my friend and I to talk about his beers and processes.

We enjoyed a good sized tasting paddle. Whilst we didn't eat there the food looked and sounded great.

Highly recommended and will definitely visit again.

Great beers and a great vibe. Bring the sunscreen because this is a sun trap making it the perfect place for a nice refreshing beer.

Didn’t try the food as we weren’t hungry but the food we seen coming out to tables looked amazing and almost had us ordering!

Can’t wait to come back and show friends this place! If you’re in the area definitely make this place your next stop!

HWB is a family owned and run gastro pub about 25 minutes south of Whitianga. There are children playing and running around happy, there are dogs that occasionally come to you at outside tables for a quiet greeting and scratch behind the ears that makes you feel important to them as if they have been waiting just for you all day. The food is sublime, wonderfully honest wood fired pizza that still bubbles as it arrives at your table, wafts of oven smoke that create an atmosphere of warmth and welcome, salt and pepper squid that washes down incredibly well with one of the several craft beers brewed on site by the wizardly Ben MacDonald. (I found the "About Time" IPA at 6.5% alcohol to be a particular favorite - thankfully we had a sober driver!). I recommend the tasting paddle though so that you can work through the lagers, pils, IPA, hazy, porter styles on offer. Make a point of talking to the staff and servers at HWB and you will feel their joy and passion at this one of a kind venue.

Amazing brews and fantastic pizza - definitely stop by for a great meal, wonderful ambiance and quality beers and food.

Great place for lunch and a drink, excellent service, the host is warm and welcoming, He gave us two trays of yummy liquor's to taste, Awesome.

Staff were lovely and seated us in a great spot and the beef burgers were really good. But the squid tasted frozen and the first plate came out cold. The first lot of chips were under cooked and the next were perfect so the consistency was lacking across the meals!
