Pokeno Country Cafe

Delightful staff, great food and I'm not sure what kinda atmosphere a country Cafe is meant to deliver but whatever it is, Pokeno Country Cafe does it very well.

Happy to have this place in Pokeno. Recently added more items to menue. Pastry and coffee is alright. Is calm and presentable space.

Quiet little place, i think i had caught it near the closing time, definitely want to come back here for sure.

Is definitely suitable for a stop by on the way to Auckland

Looks like this has been redecorated, very nice and clean. We had a niceburger and chips it was yum!

While the place has a bit of a dated feel to it, the service is personable and friendly. The food is value for money and good if you want a humble meal while on the road.

Good burger portions. Nice patties. Counter staff could be more friendly. Little dour. Having said that the Kitchen staff, cooks who brought us our food were lovely. Lots of smiles.

Food is ok but ordered fries and a drink, drink took 10mins? Fair enough but fries taking 30+ mins? And having to ask for a refund with no explication or even an apology? For a monday lunch time with only a few other tables is just woah better off going to the bakeries that are next door to be honest

Went to here because the Bake House was closed. Bought a steak and cheese pie. Only 2 chunks of meat in the entire pie. Rest was glue gravy. One of the worst pies I’ve had in NZ.

We got the eggs benny with bacon and the Pokeno bacon breakfast and a large flat white. Everything was really good. Eggs benny was cooked to perfection, portions where generous and the coffee was amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you for a great start to the day.

Good coffee. A decent place to stop during a long drive, close to the highway and reasonable selection of snacks. The food is ok, not great. The cold drink selection is mostly energy drinks. The pies are, again, ok but some nice danishes. The outdoor seating area is really nicely done, given its location. The owners have put some real effort into this with spacious seating, plants and shade, which makes it a relaxed place to get a coffee. Let down by fairly grumpy service and dirty toilet facilities.

Love these little cafes. We brought in the fam and ordered alot. The staff whipped it up in no time. No complaints from anyone. Great stuff in a cozy little area.

Fairly satisfying fish and chips. We had the entire café to ourselves - everyone seemed to be buying ice cream from up the road.

A little underwhelming we used to drive through pokeno for a nice breakfast on any long trips and there wasn’t much to choose from this time round. Shop needs a little tlc but staff were friendly enough. Back area by toilets needs a spruce up… dead plants everywhere.customers notice the little things. 2/5

Shouldn't be called a Cafe.
Food was very, very poor.
So bad we didn't eat our food & we were starving. Took it home and fed our chooks.

Very, very yummy. Oh my! Yesterday I bought two T-bone steaks (aged on the bone) which were delicious! I also bought a kilo of Bacon which they use at their outlet Café at Mercer, where we had brunch yesterday. I can't wait to eat that as well. Yuuuummmm!

Under new management, this cafe has become our favourite local with nice food choices and good hot drinks (even for fussy people like me who don't do normal milk) and a nice outdoor area that is covered and great even when its raining. The fish and chips are excellent too - we used to drive to Tuakau but now with the crisp chips and yummy options we just go there.

We went for brunch today. The place is exceptionally clean. The food was awesome. Really lovely.

I've never had even a tiny meh moment in a the times I've been to this café. The coffee is excellent and is always hot enough, their meals and cabinet food are very good and OMG. I discovered their $9 fish and chip meal.not only was it supersonically hot and freaking delicious but there was so much in the pack, you could so share it with another adult if you wish! So goooood

Pleasant spot for lunch. Good seating. Variety of food on the menu. Delicious slices in the cake cabinet. Great mocha.
