Very poor service, over commitment and on the day delivery of smaller vehicle! Stating over booking? Customer treatment is poor, I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you want to ruin your travel experience.

Extremely good assistance from the manager to get our vehicle needs sorted out which kept us safe during Cyclone Gabrielle. He offered us a one way rental which we didn't think would be available and this option saved us lots of time as well as money.

Leanne at Taupo RAD Car Hire was my guardian angel after being let down by AIRNZ on my connecting flight from Auckland to attend a funeral that afternoon Leanne went into NZ princess warrior mode and waved her magic wand to get me a hire car from Auckland Depot to drive down to Taupo. There were no car rentals available on any web searches and all the offices at the airport had no vehicles available. I made it in time for the tail end of the funeral reception better than missing it altogether. My experience with RAD and Leanne and Manager of Wellington Depot was extremely positive and put my faith back in NZ customer service. We have a large contingent of Australians coming to NZ in December for our wedding and I will be recommending that they check out RAD car hire for their journey around our beautiful country NZ.

My family and I were stranded in Taupo after our car had a major electrical fault. Due to Covid all of the corporate rental car companies had abanded Taupo. Though Rad, a local privately owned company picked up my call well outside of business hours in the weekend and had a car ready for us to return home. Excellent service at highly competitive rates. Unfortunately we did not receive the friendly and helpful service we have received from Leanne in the past. My Partner called today to inquire about a truck hire as it's been almost a year since we last used a removal truck she asked for his name he state his name and told her we had used her a lot last year she then stated if it's the (name) I know we won't be hiring to you again. To our knowledge we have had no issues in the past we always paid up front and fulled the truck back up and left it the way we received it (clean) on returning it and never had a phone call or email stating otherwise. So we were left confused we did inquire to another brunch for a corporate number he was going to call her and see what the issue was and did say with covid some brunches were struggling we understand this but being rude to potential customers will not help get or keep business. Still waiting to see what her problem was because of this I've told my partner we definitely won't be going through the taupo brunch anymore!

I highly recommend RAD Taupo central, Leanne went out of her way to ensure we had the best experience with our RAD rental car by arranging a parking site in Taupo for our motorhome while we went down to National Park for a couple of days. Best rental car service we have ever encountered by far!

Online booking didn’t have some details such as exact car make and model. So I called radcarhire Taupo. Leanne had all the answer for me.she even booked everything while being over the phone and sent out-confirmation email with out any payment. This was probably one the best car hire deal. The car had all the features and it was easy to deal with Radcar hire Taupo.

Highly recommend these guys! Car broke down outside Taupo and needed to get back to Auckland. They came back to the rental location after hours on a Saturday to let us rent a 2017 Highlander to get all our camping stuff back to Auckland. Very flexible on return and just great to rent from. Rad will be my first choice in NZ from now on

My car broke down on the way to Taupo. While it was being fixed, I hired a car from RaD. They were very kind to myself and my child. The rates were very good, and the car was clean and serviceable. I would recommend them to my friends and family.

Always a good service, great vehicles for hire at very good prices. I've used these guys a few times and they've always had what I needed, when I needed it.

I rented a car an hour from Taupo, the fan belt broke and the car overheated. This rental was going to cost $300 Because off the extra charges for doing a lot off ks and another fee for returning the car (out off hours). The fan belt breaking was a blessing in disguise. I went to RaD car hire and got a rental with mostly the same amount off ks to do and same return time it cost $70 and this car didnt have issues. So thanks RaD i got a cheaper and more reliable car for a fraction off the price.
