We had an amazing time at the Smoky. Ordered the platter- so amazing. Lots of choices and super yummy. Ps: fab cocktails & the service was great.

Would NOT recommend this place, because the barman and owner didn't recognize us he charged us $5. Extra for our beer, $6. For glass of water. We didn't stay for dinner so can't rate the food. The atmosphere was so bad we felt uncomfortable, like intruders. And 4 /6 of us ARE locals, we didn't like being treated like that, will never go back there again to be RIPPED OFF! Not good

Went in at 9.10pm got told couldn't make a cocktail as after 9pm. They had a drinks menu on the bar stating all drinks with no time of when drinks were made till.
Asked manager and he advised they don't mix cocktails after 9pm as they Try to keep track on clientele. Don't want to serve drunk patrons.
If we had asked him he would of made for us.
Asked what staff member had refused to make our drink and would talk to them.
If I was ordering and not my wife I would of walked out and not ordered a beer and desert.
Won't go back again. Bad customer service. If you don't serve drinks don't advertise you do on the bar with a drinks lists.

Staff here are very nice. We ordered a platter and fish and chips and garlic bread. Deeeeeelicious. We are looking forward to returning. Definitely try this place out if you are in the area

We came to Whangamatā for two nights and both nights ordered from here! One dine in one take out. It was so good the first night we tried something else from the menu the second! Also the staff were super nice and welcoming!

Service is slow. Been waiting 45, mins. Just been told that our order didnt go through. Now complaining, BUT free drinks, so thats a great customer service response. Thank you. ️

Beautiful friendly service, the food was generous amount and the menu is quite unique. My husband loved his smoked sausage and I loved the pickle came with food as well. They made the normal menu you can see everywhere else up the level. Recommend.

Half of the menu was unavailable so we settled for what we could get which was average at best. The interior was very cold with doors wide open and a forecast of 6 degrees overnight. Will not be returning!

Excellent atmosphere, good range of drinks and food, dinner potions good size and price, really enjoyed the Smoky Pallet.

Best meatballs I have ever had, venison & tomato. The rest of the family really appreciated the duck tacos, and the beef sliders. What a fantastic meal. The Panhead XPA was great too. All round, best dining experience we've had in Whangamata
On my return visit, I was extremely happy with the Thai beef salad, and wife with her halloumi burger.
This place is full of dining surprises.
