Step back in time and this is what all small town hotel bars were like.
Relaxed atmosphere, great hearty food full of flavour and treated like you are one of the local population. Thank goodness there is at least one kiwi style hotel bar around.

Building is in desperate need for a revamp or even just the holes in the toilet walls could be easily patched up and painted.
Food wasn't bad but won't bother going again.

Overall frozen food, very average reception and expensive dishes for the quality of the dishes.

Best place to eat for dinner in Waihi. Kids menu was great and if you like burgers, I had the chicken burger and by far the best burger I've ever tasted. Chicken parmi was underwhelming but not everything can be perfect. $12 cheese burger and fries for kids was a meal for a adult. Beers cold and good price. Glad we found this place for our fortnightly dinner out

Great old pub for a feed and a couple of cold ones if you are making the trek round to Whanga or Pauanui

Payed for sirloin, got tuff, grizzly bit of steak that was not what i ordered.they ate thieves, will not be going back!

We were a party of 8 who visited The Sterling Friday evening April 14th. We could not have been more impressed. We had traveled from Auckland for a weekend exploring the Waihi area and our evening at the Sterlng was the highlight of our visit. A friendly greeting met us as soon as we walked through the front door. The atmosphere was so relaxing, comfortable couches and a big coffee table allowed a group like us to chat and unwind. The tap beers included Guinness! The house wines were very reputable and well priced. The dinner menu was amazingly extensive and every meal was delicious and very well presented.well done to the chef and supporting team! Table service was friendly, personable and very efficient. In summary.thanks to all the team at the Stirling.you are a very special bunch of people.and your hospitality was superb!

Took my sister there for lunch. We were right on the cutoff for the kitchen to close. But they made a choice to serve us. The food was good. A busy day probably because of heading into holidays so the noise level was a bit above what I class as comfortable. Otherwise a very nice experience.

Went to the Sterling pub last night for dinner and I must say best steak I've had in years and the salad was so fresh, think I'm gonna go there tonight for dinner as well. YUM!

I love it here. It's peaceful the food delicious. I love their deep fried camenbert cheese with plum dipping sauce. My hudband had a medium cooked sirloin with salad eggs and chips he enjoyed it. On of our go to when we have time pljaces

They do the perfect steak! Lovely meals.need to work a lo on tge apple crumble tho! Awesome atmosphere very relaxed and comfortable been back 3 times.

Depends what you are looking for but this is old school NZ pub setting where the meal, prices and staff were excellent. And its a non pretentious setting where you can relax. Been before and will go again!

Nice local bar for a hearty meal. We had Dixie chicken and Guinness hot pot. The food was ok. The kids meals were great value though! We also played pool afterwards for a while which was nice.

Quickly whanau gathering, 1 of the few restaurant bars open. Easy to enjoy meals, could enjoy a larger serving as well. Beaut patrons, great parking. Thanks sterling

Good hearty meals at a decent price. Nice local pub with friendly staff. Would definitely recommend coming here and will be back when in town again.

Highly recommend the Sterling Best Nachos we have ever had. We have been
there three times over our travels and the food is exceptional as well as the cold Beers.

Great food. Although could hear the chef blasting the wait staff.unpleasant. Felt sorry for them.

Delicious lunch. I had the open steak sandwich and couldn't eat it all. Generous portions. Will definitely stop in here again on our way through.
