Meal flawless, lovely sitting next to the gardens with great atmosphere and friendly staff: Would recommend for an evening meal if you’re near, well worth a journey!

Amazing food and friendly staff. We attended a Brazilian barbecue themed evening and everything we had was yummy. The food was generous and we will filled to the brim when we left. The chef also accommodated one of our guests who didn’t eat meat without us evenings asking. Will certainly recommend it ️

Service was good but food was terrible pork fillet was bloody which when I ask to fix they took it and then overcooked it and my partners 45 dollar steak was blue we asked them to sort it so they took it back and over cooked it all till it was shriveled and burnt on puree kids meals were plain also

Absolutely delicious meal in The Church Bistro with great service. The food was some of the best experienced in New Zealand and accompanied by a fabulous wine list. All for a very reasonable price

Unfortunately the Maître De or owner (an older European female) came into
Close contact with my 4 year old as my child doesn’t talk to strangers so she placed her face right in front of my child to get a reaction from her, also she stood near our table gave us such an unwelcome vibe, we paid the bill up front just to help her relax, she then questioned if we were driving home while under the influence of alcohol, we did not hear her question the other patrons. My husband and I dont dine out at a restaurant often and we have not consumed alcohol in half a decade and we decided to include wine recommended by the restaurant to celebrate a promising year for our family business. It really ruined a great experience as the rest of the staff had beautiful personalities, it is such a pity we were judged, possibly because we are Maori and a younger married couple. Please do better as ur staff do an amazing job representing the company it is a pity an experience was tarnished because of a judgement.

Cannot express how much my partner and I loved this restaurant. A beautiful vibe all-round. My partner and I walked in very late but the staff were still accommodating and gave us a table. Great food, we got the wine pairings. Amazing desserts

Honestly - just stop. The food here was completely ridiculous amazing. The salmon on black rice dish was incredible. Seriously such a great venue. Teenaa rawa atu koe.

We went to The Church Bistro which was conveniently attached to our most wonderful Church Accommodations Cottages. The space was unique and that it is actually an old church. We started with a shared appetizer of duck confit served with goat cheese in a filo dough nest which was excellent and an indication of the meal to come. We ordered one of the specials of the night, which was a delicious seafood Thai green curry served with house baked cumin bread (I can still taste it's cumin deliciousness now). We also ordered the grilled salmon with black rice which was perfection. We shared the dark chocolate dome for dessert which was equaly delicious. The service was friendly and familiar while at the same time being equivalent to the best restaurants in big cities. Surprisingly, this bistro in this tiny town in what some may consider "the middle of nowhere" happen to be one of the best meals we've had through our month-long journey around New Zealand.

Fantastic little gem in Hahei. We had the apprentice chef on and he knocked it out of the park. Food this good should be celebrated and shouted from the roof tops. Great service and selection of wine too.
I wished I lived in Hahei, as I want to go back for round two.

Even in fraught times of covid, the welcome was warm and the food delicious. We booked late in the afternoon, so we're lucky to get a seating, even if it was 5: 30! So make sure you book early as this is a popular spot without many dining alternatives locally. Menu is small, but something for everyone and our dishes were beautifully prepared and presented and tasted great. Gracious and efficient service.

Divine octopus, as good as in Palermo, fantastic ambiance in a beautiful relocated church in lovely Hahei. Wonderful wine list with a smattering of interesting European wines. Highly recommend

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The food though was mgnificant. We had the confit duck and octopus for a starter. The octopus was super tender and cooked to perfection.
For mains we had the fish and the beef short rib, with vegetables. The vegetables were cooked so that they still had a crunch. The beef was fall off the bone and was delectable alongside the kumara mash and gravy. The dessert was the chocolate dome with pistachio, another item I could not find any fault with. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone
