The Dunes Golf Resort, Matarangi reviews
22 Played golf, course is outstanding.
Had dinner, food was fabulous.
Great staff. Real friendly and awesome atmosphere.
Very disappointed with the food at Omaras, after a long wait we were served overcooked fish and one of the worst steaks I’ve seen. Won’t be going back.
Played 18 holes of golf at the club course. The course was in pretty good condition, the fairways are fairly flat and the greens undulating but true. The bunkers were a challenge and the water around the front 7 made it interesting.
I paid $70 and would say there are better value courses on the peninsula.
A major concern I have is there was no hot water available for a shower.
If you ever go to matarangi, be sure to visit this place.i went for a holiday to kuaotunu and towards the end of the holiday i decided to have lunch here.this is easily the best meal i’ve had while visiting this part of the north island. I had the chicken wings, and the serving size was huge, and the wings were both very crispy and juicy.it was also so much less crowded than Luke’s Kitchen for example. Definitely recommend!
Well irrigated tee boxes, Panhead Supercharger on Tap and Tandoori Snapper. What more can you ask for
Went for dinner with the family. They have a kids menu and the servings are generous. I had the surf and turf. The steak was huge and cooked perfectly. It was very tasty as were the prawns. The chips were nice just a little over salted. It comes with a caesar salad which is a bit much and makes for a huge meal. The pork bao were nice but would have been nicer hot. The popcorn chicken was a little over cooked and lacking in flavour. The buttered chicken was average and very mild. There are little to no non alcoholic drinks available unless you like coke ect. No tea or coffee were available which was very disappointing
Beautiful beach is just next to the golf club. Good for family holiday. Relax and peaceful town.
Bit disappointed, that's why 3 stars, was told in tauranga to go play this course. The greens weren't that great, the holes in the greens were worn and two greens were very temporary,
One green you couldn't putt on. At 60 dollars around seems abit steep.
Very disappointing meal tonight for our anniversary. Step down from previous experiences here. Waitress was not very engaging, prawn cocktail pretty tasteless and we both had steak main which was very chewy. Sorry Dunes but after looking forward to dining with you was so disappointed had to comment.
Loved it friendly campers from all over AOTEAROA and over seas excellent stuff to make sure your all right and common room and kitchen and toilets cleaned loved it
Poor service took over an hour to get pizzas with no word from staff. Wasn’t allowed to order off the standard lunch menu as the kitchen was to jam packed but guests who arrived later got kitchen food. Terrible experience
Nice ambience. Good service. Unfortunately, the seafood chowder was an expensive, disappointing, watery failure.
Nice picturesque course played with the family.
Also a helpful groundsman. Lost my sunglasses and we were able to locate them with help of his quad. Thank you
So good! Course was in amazing condition. Staff work really hard with good equipment to provide an amazing course. Pro shop and bar/ Restaurant staff are great. Thank you
Just excellent service from friendly locals. Great course with a lovely restaurant at the end of it.
Brilliant! From Leanne and Nicky at the start in proshop (even tried to arrange a local to join me as i was on my own) to the finish, a wonderful experience
Tees fine fairways mostly good but the highlight was the greens - tremendous! As smooth as silk - been member of Mount Maunganui last 15 yrs and when Mount at its best its the equal of 'The Dunes' right now - thanks Nicky and Leanne - (even a pod of orcas spotted from 11th tee) keep up the great work

Welcoming pro shop. Bar/restaurant very good. Finishes with a par 3, great to watch whilst enjoying a drink/food. Excellent piece of land.half of the course routing is away from houses. Could have been a top class course had they done fescue turf, had wider fairways to increase the strategy and not sold so much real estate.but I guess it's the compromise made to fund courses.nevetheless an enjoyable course, pretty vistas & pines, not a whole lot of width, not too long and has some interesting holes/greens.a good package if you're in the area. I'd play again.
Course is in wonderful condition and Club/community hub a great place for a snack and refreshment.
Amazing place and course, except the reception seems to keep having an attitude towards us, whether accusing us of not buying tickets for all members, or singling is out for holding up other players when the people in front were also doing the same. Just feels a bit stink for an otherwise great venue.
The place is amazing. With the natural reserve area next to it and the 6 km long it’s hard to find better places to spend the day. We stayed at the Matarangi Villas for 3 weeks and explored from there the peninsula.
