The Kirk Cafe reviews
78We had a great breakfast with perfect cooked eggs nice coffee and our dog was welcome to be with us in the garden area. We’ll be back
Gorgeous food, generous serves and really lovely service who were patient and kind to us with young children.
We came for brunch and everything was delicious, the coffee, the food and the cakes selection! Highly recommend.
Disappointed- this had been our favourite cafe for special events but the magic has gone. We explained our concerns to the staff. We knew there was a change in ownership from our meals before we even asked. Won’t be back. It’s a lot of money and we only had food on half of the plate and items missing from the famous French toast too. But the coffee was very good.
Food was a tad too salty, but the flavours were good. Coffee was good and presented well.
Service was a bit slammed, but only having two people working (one chef, one front of house), it was still very within reason.
This was a nice cafe with good food. I sat on the enclosed terrace. Everything was clean.:) the surrounding are pretty
Atmosphere and food fuse to become a wonderful mix of flavour explosion and exceptionally good coffee. Bens artistic talent in the kitchen knows no bounds. The food arrived quickly and with a smile from the knowledgeable staff. The food makes you really think about where to actually start on the plate! The colours are vibrant. Ben and Kersti’s talent and passion for the cafe culture industry is evident. It is one of my favourite places to visit - be it with friends, for Work meetings or just a jolly good coffee!
Today was my second time visiting this little cafe, and it was exactly as I remembered it from my first visit last year. Between the cabinet food and the menu on offer there is something there for everyone, and the presentation of all of the dishes coming out of the kitchen was quite something. Good food, great coffee, and service with a smile! What more could you ask for? I only wish I was up this way more often so I could work my way down the menu.
You can't get better than mid week mid morning on the shortest day of the year to grab a delicious and always unique breakfast at The Kirk Cafe. Owner Kersti always greats you with a warm hello and Ben keeps changing up the menu to keep a fellow foodie always returning. Today I took my puppy in on lead and we shared a table on the sunny front deck with a long black and a new item on the menu - The Poached Eggs on French Sourdough: Salsa Verde, smoked seasoned ricotta, white anchovies, nduja spread, pickled shallots, olive crumb, caper berries and parmesan. There was a sticky sauce on the plate that added a lovely sweetness to the salty, spicy combo of flavours. The eggs were perfectly poached and married well the with nduja covered pain au levain. Salsa verde with a little extra accompaniment of white anchovy added a great little salty tang to the creaminess of the whipped ricotta. Crispy beet chips and floss topped it all off and I polished my plate quicker than normal as I find Ben's portions generous and filling.
Could have done with an extra half slice of bread to wipe the dregs off the plate but refrained from using my finger.
A perfect breakfast 15/10
keep it up
I highly recommend the muffins - both savory & sweet, which are baked daily and delicious.
I've had great hot chocolates from there before however on this occasion was disappointed as I asked for an extra hot hot chocolate and was told they couldn't do it for safety purposes. I understand where they're coming from, but every other Cafe is happy to accommodate my regular requests.
Great service with a smile.
Coffee and food delicious.
Happy and enjoyable atmosphere.
One of the best cafes I have eaten in Hamilton. Good food with very minute detailing. Excellent presentation I tried the avocado toast which was delicious infact I really like the pickle cauliflower and spicy dukkah it lifted the whole dish. Bright and fresh colours the dish really stand out to me. Well done team Kirk we would definitely be back.
I asked for the dressing on my eggs to be put on the side. Was told this was not possible. Then found a notice in the bathroom saying they preferred any issues to be discussed with them rather than in a review so they could address the issue.
This place is all about the food. The vibe is halfway there, but the food. Oh my gaaaaawwwwddddd the food. Greatest eggs bene I've ever had (the mushroom one - with a side of twice cured bacon). And the coffee - perfect! ️
Easily the best breakfast I've had in 20 years of cafe-ing.
One of the best cafe i found when i was looking for something for breakfast. Lovely place with lots of dining space and parking space. Very well organised, food was excellent and outstanding service.
The lady owner is so sweet and friendly. Special Thanks to her for the recommendation
Tried their Avocado on toast, Eggs on toast, mini breakfast special. Everything was outstanding and mouth watering. Portion size is amazing one plate good for one person.
Not only the food the coffee is also superb. I usually have Mocha in morning which I usually get the smell of burnt coffee in most of the cafe but here it was made to perfection with exact amount of coffee, milk and chocolate.
Very thing is very lovely. Must visit.
Will visit again when back in Hamilton.
Bougee as food, nice smoove coffee, interesting setting, outdoor area is clise to the road so can be noisey, outdoor area dog friendly, decent portions, very middle class mature pakeha hamilton patrons so quiet setting.
Amazing presentation and flavours. Service was lacking and signs telling you what you "can't do"; you can't move the tables around, you can't have scrambled eggs with your bene. The ambiance was underwhelming. It's also quite expensive, which I am okay with because you are paying for quality food made from scratch, but I was not full after I had finished my bene. Anyway, great food but overall experience was okay
I dare you to order the eggs benny with miso-salmon. You will be in flavour country. Can’t go wrong with the smashed avo either. Just get here and let Kirk cafe do the rest. #ftw
The Kirk Cafe has been my go-to for years. I take any out-of-town guests here and they’re always impressed. Beautifully presented food that tastes delicious.
Best salmon eggs benedict I have ever had.
They could work on the child's menu though as there wasn't a healthy option
Higher prices but restaurant quality dishes, the flavours are amazing and the service is good too. Would highly recommend a visit here.
