Tongariro Lodge

Excellent stay for my Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Super friendly staff, wonderful breakfast with self made bread and very clean. Highly recommended.

Really beautiful spot. The photos don’t do it justice. Our chalet had a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The restaurant was top notch too (make sure to make a reservation!). They also arranged transport for us for the alpine crossing.

Fantastic venue for my mother's 80th birthday! Was great for us all to be able to be able to stay at the lodge and meet up for not only the 'big event' (the lunch) but breakfast, and drinks as well. The Delta function room was the perfect size - and looked great with some styling from EventRent. The food was yummy - and everyone got what they wanted with the alternate drop menu. We especially enjoyed the fresh blueberry muffins at breakfast each morning. The staff took good excellent care of us.and made an endless steam coffees during our stay. Can't thank you enough for doing such a great job of hosting this "once in a lifetime" event.

Rooms were clean and a little smaller than we expected. The location allowed nearby parking so met loading/unloading the car was easy.
Restaurant was fab, chef made us gnocchi as were vegetarian, this was yummy.
Breakfast was delicious too, we picked what we wanted the night before so they know quantities of who wants what.

Stars under the night sky, so gorgeous.
Fireplace in restaurant/bar added a cozy touch and felt very christmassy. Staff were accommodating, friendly and polite. Lovely place, highly recommend.

Restaurant was the highlight of the stay. Great food and wine. Love the quietness and peaceful vibe. Would definitely go back for a relaxing time.

Got lodge no. 17 surprisingly didn’t have a microwave or a smart TV! Apart that it was a good stay

Just the perfect venue for a family birthday weekend. Booked dinner at the on site restaurant and the food and service could not be faulted. Just the place for peace and tranquility.

Nice lodge off the main road in a wooded area on the Tongariro River. Simply and functionally furnished, sufficient for our stopover in May 2023. Small terrace with a table and two chairs and a view of the forest. Armchair, desk and bed. In the anteroom a wardrobe. Good WiFi. Very friendly service at the reception.

Definitely wonderful in summer, more difficult in autumn.

A really lovely place. The staff went out of their way to help a stray dog when it was found. Really made an impression on me!

Lovely place, highly recommend. Stayed here before climbing the Alpine Crossing, also served a great coffee on our way out.

We had some great days over new year. Nice house that contained everything we needed. The surroundings are beautiful and there are two rivers just next to the lodge. They care about sustainability and the shampoo and body wash were packed in paper rather than plastic.
We where really disappointed with the breakfast buffet though. 35$ and the buffet where very limited. Eg only butter and jam for the bread, no cheese, no ham. When we came there we’re no more berries and they couldn’t supply more. Had we known of this very limited buffet we would have made our own breakfast in the house instead. Close to give 4 stars because of this but all the other things about this place were just perfect.

Excellent manager and beautiful accommodation nothing is to much for the Italian manager who knows all fishing spots and very friendly close to the river for nice walks or fishing.from thr winging pomme

Rooms are spotlessly clean, awesome food and the staff are delightful, nothing is to much trouble

Great stay on a surprisingly huge amount of land. We went for a lovely walk along the river before dinner. The lady with blonde hair who checked us in and served at dinner, was super helpful with sharing maps and info about the area. A fantastic bar and restaurant so you don’t have to go far, we really enjoyed the steak, potato gratin with a few beers and wine. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Room had excellent air con as well as heating in the bathroom if the evening was a bit chilly. Highly recommend and would definitely come back, one night wasn’t enough.

The smell of pine forest, cozy furnishings, delicious food, great friendly service make this a wonderful place to stay. We held a gathering here some stayed in one bedroom chalets which were akin to lovely hotel rooms but with a deck leading to the outdoors a few minutes walk from the Tongariro River. Others stayed in villas which had multiple bedrooms and bathrooms.more like a home wood burning fireplace and heat pumps you choose for crisp nights. Beautiful viewyand great meeting facilities.

What amazing place to stay, it's.just a slice of heaven. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa and was just amazed by the surroundings and facilities, we will be back to stay again

Everything about this place, from the drive in to the chalet to the restaurant. Me and my partner are thoroughly impressed.
Front desk are very helpful and will help with any enquiry you have.
The cocktails were fab, and common area was very comfortable with the fireplace going.
Short walk to the Tongariro river where you have the option of going fishing.
Lodges have electric blankets supplied for the winter and Netflix available to access on their TVs along with free wifi.

If me and my partner lived in NZ then we would definitely be back often.

Very very cool little place, we were checked in super quickly, and then came to the restaurant with food that would challenge some top restaurants, especially in Taupo, worth the half hour travel. We especially loved the family feel that we got with everything we did during our stay.

Very nice location and great rooms. We were here as part of a company event. And the catering was great and the space was too. Looking forward to going again with the family
