Zest Cafe Taupo / Tui’s Nest

One of my faviourite cafes in Taupo, the kai is outstanding, especially the "Tuis Beef Stack". Highly recommend coming here anytime you're in or around Taupo

Shame the window has been smashed but that will be fixed. The most fabulous carrot cake is made here, with Very generous servings. We will be back

We had an amazing mince cheese and bacon egg pie there, best we had in NZ so far and got some advice what to do in the Taupō region from the lovely owners. Really a great little Café!

As a visitor to Taupo we were glad we found this gem. It is a small local cafe with a friendly atmosphere. It is clearly popular with locals and a local couple told us their favorite cabinet items. The chef was happy to make changes to a menu item to make it gluten free for me. Our meals were beautifully presented. We will certainly return.

Great find! The food was great and the coffee was excellent. Definitely recommend the double yolk (eggs benedict) and the cinnamon chai latte. Service was great as well!

Delicious Egg Benedict and the carrot cake is OUTSTANDING! The service was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you come here at least once for brekkie!

Have been here twice for breakfast and lunch had the double yoker with spinach and salmon and it was delicious! The coffee is very good too. Great atmosphere and staff are friendly and fun love this place, highly recommend. This will be my regular spot to hang with a friend

New owners and all food is baked and made on the premises. Apparently the savoury waffles are very tasty and while there, the cook/owner got us to sample a beautiful custard and peach pie. I had a sausage roll again and my companion had bacon and egg pie and every morsel was eaten. Second time there and definitely not my last time.

Today my brother and I went to Zest cafe, and the coffee was horrendous! I didn’t think to smell it until we got home because I was so focused on not dropping them because they were so hot (burning my hands as if was Boiling water. I could instantly smell that it was burnt! Coffee + milk - the guy was rushing through everything then once had complete our coffees had nothing else to do (there was no queue at all).
Tasted it and it tasted like plunger coffee with cold milk - it was actually disgusting.

This is not a breakfast place. Do not go if you want hot food! It came up as the top result for "breakfast in Taupo" and it looks like there was a breakfast menu once upon a time.but that is no longer the case.

Excellent quick stop before heading over to Huka Falls. Very friendly staff, many Gluten Free options, and great tea selection.

Wonderful warm small and quaint, plenty of parking without the commotion of the town.
Pricing reasonably

The food was very tasty! And the service lovely but I can't find the logic in bringing out the sweet order first heated up when it's just going to get cold while eating the savoury order. Do people here eat desert first? Sorry for asking to have sweet order brought out again later again, certainly didn't want to be a difficult person. It's just 101 hospitality no?
Otherwise lovely place I do recommend it! And I will pop in again?

On the mornings I choose to get a delicious coffee, this place is my new go to! Yummy All Press coffee made by friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

Nice spot away from crowded town center, friendly staff, nice coffee & food. Heaps of outdoor seating for sunny summer days, look forward to that.

Visited at breakfast time on a dull weather Saturday morning, there were already quite a few people who were eating in, which was encouraging. Had a homemade savory, delicious with real mince inside (not just gravy) & light flakey pastry. Delicious looking menu on the wall with the usual fare. I watched carefully when the server dropped a clean knife on the floor, good to see it was immediately picked up & put with the dirty cutlery. Easy to park outside, they are not located in the central shopping area, but not too far away & worth the trip. Recommended.

This was a major disappointment the food we purchase was way below standard and super expensive, but the lady staff member was excellent
