Adzuki Bean Cafe & Restaurant reviews
51 Unfortunately this place was a let down to be honest. BIG Breakfast was OK, Halloumi dish was average and the Seafood Chowder was definitely not "the best in town" as advertised, it reeked of days old Fish and tasted disgusting. Food tastes as if it's all cooked in the same oil/pan.
Taste still lingers as i write this.
Hot drinks weren't too bad.
Toilets weren't the cleanest, had 1 bathroom with no soap (the other 2 had soap)
Service was friendly though and the background music was relaxing.just the food for the total price was a let down.
We went in on a quiet night. The food was great. We got the beef wellington and seafood chowder. Our server was kind and made sure to let us know about the dessert special they had that day. One of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Highly recommend.
A piece of my chicken was uncooked and when I pointed this out to the waitress she told me that it was because the beetroot on top had touched it. It hadn't touched it, it was pink in the middle when I cut into it. Then I had a piece of cheesecake for dessert that had a hair in it (I didn't bother pointing this out after the chicken incident.).
Very disappointed. Food bland no liquor license so no wine (not advertised till you try ordering)
This is my momz and I go to.the staff are friendly and we can have a decent conversation without so much noise and the food & coffee is relaxing & spacious
Food and service excellent but the decor needs revamping to encourage people to come in. From the street it looks a bit depressing
Really disappointed with my meal. The salt and pepper squid was very bland and really needed a sauce or aioli to accompany it.
The pork was heavily smoked and so dry it was basically inedible and the vegetable stack was not fresh, it had obviously been reheated as the pastry was rubbery not to mention overcooked. The brocolli was the best part.
My friend had fish of the day which was a very small portion and the scallops which were nicely cooked but were in a very overpowering sauce.
Have been there previously and had the beef Wellington which was fine.
Not sure I’ll be going back
My husband and I have been going to Azuki Bean for years and the food snd service has always been great
I don't know what happened today. We couldn't order wine or beer as the license hadn't been renewed. My fish was overcooked and so were the fries. My husband's crumbled chicken tasted like it had been cooked in well used oil.
The vats with the shortening could have been changed as we could still tast the fat after we finished the meal. We should have sent the meals back but it looked like he was on his own so we paid and left and had coffee and cake at another Cafe
Had THE BEST ever berry cheesecake here last week. It was so creamy and so delicious, I'm going to buy one every week. Highly recommend
They serve what they mention on their slate board outside the shop " best seafood chowder in Lowerhutt". Loved it!
Best kept secret in Petone, the food is consistently amazing! Looks can be deceiving. Highly recommend
The service is always lovely, they are friendly and even remember regulars favourites, the food is amazing.
It's a bit of a gem.
Lost a case at the Human Rights Commission when they fired a pregnant employee for being pregnant and treated her terribly. So yeah there that I'm not supporting businesses like that.
I don't usually eat in such awful establishments, but this place is absolutely disgusting, never again.
I'm not a huge fan of the decoration, apart from that, we spent a pleasant moment to the sound of the piano. Good service, good food. This Isa good spot for a brunch in Petone.
We went here for a birthday dinner with a large family group, I can honestly say everyone really really loved the food great service and the friendly staff every body got their food at the same time.
Not easy to do with a small kitchen.
We all highly recommend this restaurant
Be back very soon team thanks so much
Tried the beef wellington. Pastry was undercooked and doughy, and the accompanying vegetables were undercooked (hard potatoes). Worst of all was that the beef was rancid. I had a couple of bites of it and realized that it was off. I didn't even go close to finishing my meal and was left feeling ill.
I told this to the waitstaff but they still insisted on charging full price.
I'd avoid it.
Always great food and friendly service. Deserves to be better patronised on a Sunday night which is when we were there.
Was with 12 others. Everyone was very happy with the food and service. Reasonably priced as well. Recommended.
Had the big breakfast recently. Other than the dry baked beans component was more than ok.spinich a nice touch. Coffee was good to.
Friendly chat about my dog (same breed as her own) was appreciated and welcoming for a return visit
