My favourite spot in Wellington. I recommend this to literally everyone because of the fantastic food, awesome staff and the fun and creative menu and events they run. 5 stars is not enough.

Perennial favourite because of the genuinely warm and skilled service, adventurous but accessible menu, fresh and sustainable approach to kai and Wellys best coffee. If I had the balls to run a hospo business, this is the kind of cafe I’d own.

A fab local cafe that is always busy. Yummo coffee and limited counter food and a well thought out menu. A little slow on the service generally but a good place to drive to if you have time on your hands

We've been irregular regulars here for years - food is typically excellent, service good, cute setting - nothing pretentious. Prices are fine. Food options are wide - and delicious across the board. Only once have had disappointment - overdone poached eggs. Lovely to see hollandaise sauce is back! Cabinet baking is always awesome.

We like Polo. Good coffee. Tasty food. Friendly staff. What’s not to like. The photos show the vegetarian kedgeree with egg and smoked fish added. The sweet potato and kale fritter is in the second one. Enjoy.

Polo is our go-to café in Miramar. Great menu and delicious treats in the cabinet. The staff are lovely and the coffee can't be beaten.

Haven't been to Polo for years, but pleasantly surprised to find that they do their own GF bread, and it is awesome! Their website and menu doesn't mention it, but you can substitute for their usual sourdough for free. Had a Reubens on it (I guess technically not a Reubens sandwich if it's not on rye) and it was great!

Cafe Polo is my fav breakfast place in the whole Wellington! The staff is so welcoming (and patient when I order lots of sides). The venue has a feels-like-home vibe. The coffee is great, the food is amazing. They have all the best local beers, wines and sodas.

The Cafe Polo team is welcoming and accommodating. It's a popular spot, so it can be hard to grab a table, but they always try hard to make it work. Their baked goods are always mouth watering and their rotating weekly specials always have so many tasty options.

Basic decor with nice atmosphere.

We had the fries and Raspberry bun, the fries were nice and crunchy but the bun was far too sweet, in my opinion if there was less jam it would have been okay. The coffee was okay.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

If you're after good food, The Larder is just down the street from Cafe Polo - absolutely go to The Larder instead.

Food at Cafe Polo is poor quality and overpriced. $28 for a pork chop you can't cut that comes with a less-than-generous glop of bland, celery-flavored baby food. The pantry foods lack in flavor. They look pretty but don't have a taste.

Clearing tables, service staff wiped things so intensely that waste food particles can (and did for us) fly from one table to another.

Gross place. Low-quality food. Go somewhere else. The Larder has really good food; though they can have wait times (because people know their food is good). The Larder is the better option; do not chance it at Cafe Polo. Gipsy Kitchen in Strathmore is another alternative.

As it's local have enjoyed many great times at this Cafe, but unfortunately the last few times have been very disappointed, which is sad as we love to support local, but many must be feeling like us as it was near empty which it never was.
Went for a quick lunch today with my son, had eggs on toast, I was served eggs on crusts. My son ordered a Ginger beer and was given a Hardie's Boy Ginger beer with under 1.5 ABV alcohol, was told by waitress no more then 0.7. I suggested it should be put on menu that there is alcohol in the ginger beer incase a child drinks it. She told me it is considered non alcoholic, no apology, no can we get you something else, it was more the attitude then the ginger beer.

This used to be our go to weekly brunch spot. We've been disappointed ever since the change of owners and then the menu changes. There's not much I like there anymore. It's got a a great atmosphere and decor inside and the baked goods are delicious!

Edit: Just to clarify my comments. Wait staff used to stop at tables and chat with customers, greeting everyone by name and giving the place a family feel. On the menu were Kiwi classics scaled up, like the big breakfast, eggs benny, pancakes, and smoked salmon sandwiches. After Josh left, the atmosphere shifted and the menu went through a fairly big overhaul. For me, the newer dishes, particularly the American inspired ones like the brisket and fried onions, are some of my least favorites (and I'm an American!) I miss the Polo Platter, which always featured an awesome sampler of some of their best dishes.

Always really good. But also closed a lot when I go there, otherwise I'd give it the final star:)
