Central Thai Restaurant reviews
45Very long wait. Saw 2 table customers come and leave before we got our food. And did not felt it was worth the wait.
The food is very nice, I had the spicy duck Thai salad and found the duck was nicely cooked, moist and succulent. A sign that they take their food seriously.
We had a large group and we all found our different dishes were well made and very tasty. Though the menu could be simplified.
We did book in advance so the kitchen and wait staff had plenty of time to prepare for us coming in. In saying this, we found the service was very slow and a waitress couldn't speak or understand much English. This is not so bad for many of us, but for our older parents, this was very frustrating. We were lucky we had the foresight of getting the staff to take down the kids orders first, before real frustrations happen.
In essence, I would certainly eat the food again (probably as a pick up order), but only go back to dine in again if I hear the service has improved. This is a shame because the decor has amazing pictures and other Thai artifacts that would be wonderful to study.
Food was great but service was dreadful. I was with a group but people who came sfter us were served well before us. We had a booking for 6.30 and all were there by 6.45. The first main came out at 7.45 and the last at 8.05. Spoilt a nice evening.
I've got a takeaway for my family, I ordered a green curry, pad thai.
The green curry was a watery kind of soup not creamy, the pad thai wasn't seasoned the noodles weren't cooked too. Not a good first impression.
Great service, great food, great price, great vibe.
Felt a bit more upper class. Definitely the fanciest restaurant I've been too in a long while.
Closest thing to eating in Thailand I've experienced in Wellington. Going to Thailand has ruined Thai food for me in NZ. There are only a few places in Wellington that are as good as what I had in Thailand, and this is one of them. Oh and you have to try the dessert. So good.
Very tidy and pleasant premises with authentic Thai interiors. Friendly staff, delicious and generous food?
Went for a walk to look for a takeaway, the Central Thai was the first I came across. Busy place, always a good sign. Wasn't adventurous, got a Pad Thai, took 10mins on a busy Friday evening.
Walked back to hotel, meal was still hot, nice flavour though I'm no Thai cuisine expert. Price, a little more than I expected but I've got a full stomach so happy chap.

Lovely dinner venue with extra nice and spicy lawn bowling friends!
Quite crowded and long wait in serving on Saturday 28/5/22 as Trentham Races on.
Food slow to come out even with the place less than half full. Food was good when it did arrive.
I went with some friends for a meal, I had prawn pad Thai as a main, the meal was tasty enough, however the temperature of the food was only just warm.
The problem being the plates that the food was served on, wad not heated which meant that the food which probably was hot from the kitchen, quickly cooled down. Very dissappointing.
Dinner for two on a Monday night, an excellent meal with prompt polite service.
The food was delicious two entrees shared and a main meal also shared more than enough food for two elderly people
I've been here a few times; nice and quiet atmosphere; friendly staff, and authentic food. It's always good to start with their Mixed Appetisers.
Lovely food and service. Will definitely return. The beef Pho soup was delicious. Many thanks.
Absolutely recommend this place. Service on point - 2 lovely guys waited on us with our party of 13. Food awesome, yummy & served hot & within a reasonable time. Gotta try the banana fritters aswell for desert! Will defs go back

Great food. It is our go to place with family and friends. Always good with choices available for all
The service was good and the restaurant well presented. The food however was not the best. The Thai Fish Cakes were very rubbery and the Garlic Prawns were very salty, I only managed to a small portion of the serving as the saltiness made the meal quite unpalatable.
A lovely place to eat. Fantastic service, delicious food, very cheap and pretty to look around. Will be back for more?
