Chameleon Restaurant / GPO reviews
34Best lunch experience we had! Their steaks are amazing and melt in the mouth. Also the celeberation cake they did for us was out of this world! Best place for your special occasions. Completely recommend!
Food was great. But we were sitting under the air con and we all had jackets on but were not asked if we wanted to move. A bit disappointing.
Service is spectacular and matches the quality of the food. A thoughtful yet simple menu - not too many choices like so many menus these days. Too many dishes can effect the quality of them. Not here however with friend's venison stealing the show. I had the Silver Fern Farms aged beef tenderloin which was done to perfection.
Had an amazing lunch here, i had the duck and my friend had the snapper. Can not fault the food. Also amazing cocktails. As a couple we really enjoyed their 3 course Valentine's dinner with amuse bouche and palate cleanser added in. My aged beef tenderloin was so soft and tasty and the duck breast cooked to perfection. A lovely ambience too with friendly and fun wait service.

Top restaurant for those who like to experience modern food. It has a 1 hat award. The meals I had were very good. There is a 2 meal or 3 meal option per person. Dessert was unique too. The service was friendly and professional. Just had breakfast here for a couple days in a row and had a great experience. There were many delicious options and the service was prompt also try the coffee drinks - they were the best I've had in New Zealand. The floor to ceiling windows make the atmosphere bright and feel like you're right on the street level.

Why they only have one hat is beyond me.
I have been to this restaurant 4 times and have always been impressed. The servers are excellent and do not bother you too much, the way the menu works is innovative and really ends up not being too expensive. The food is as good as I have eaten anywhere in the world. Truly a fine dining experience. Just go, you will not be disappointed
Nice food, great location and amazing service. Not quite 5 stars from me as the food was good but not as amazing as I'd expect for the price.

Fine dining at it's best. Reasonably priced and friendly but professional service. Perfect for a business lunch or a meal with a special someone.
Delicious food and great location, underrated as one of the top restaurants in Wellington.
Would recommend.

Decor and position of restaurant was adequate but the food was great would certainly recommend this as a dining experience
Everything was fantastic except dessert (just nothing special considering the price). I would definitely recommend the beef & venison!
We booked this for a really special get-together based on the reviews and wow, it really lived up to the recommendations. The cocktails beforehand were terrific and staff very welcoming. Once in the restaurant, we asked if we could move as we found it a bit cold by the entrance. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The food was exquisite. Not cheap but well worth it.
Amazing service. Very nice front lady and waitress really looked after us. Gourmet food with interesting flavours.
The French receptionist at the restaurant took one look at my mother and I and decided we were not cut out for their "fine dining" restaurant (despite us being dressed up), and told us we might be better suited for their more casual restaurant as it might be more catered to "our taste". Firstly, what makes him think I havent chosen to be there? I made 4 attempts to call the restaurant to make a reservation and none of the phone calls were answered.
The first glass of wine my mother ordered was corked, and the waiter did not seem to understand that. When we tried to explain that to her as she claimed "But this is a popular wine! ". The oysters we received were not as fresh as they should of been. The food was pretty tasteless and looked nothing like what was advertised on the internet.
At one point the manager came over to check on us. Despite her good intentions, she reeked of cigarette. A "fine dining" restaurant should have rules regarding staff smoking, at least requiring them to don cologne before speaking to guests - as do most proper restaurants require around the world.
For the price of the meal, you are better off heading to Charlie Noble just next door. Their food and service is excellent and their pricing is far more reasonable, as compared to the shocking experience we received at the Intercontinental's Chameleon Restaurant.
Fine dining with innovative menu and excellent service. One of Wellington's best and good value too.
