The coffee is always good, the food is always good, and the staff, the staff are second to none! Absolutely loveliest people, efficient, kind, so friendly, always smiling, and just absolutely delightful.

I've been here before because it keeps things simple at good prices, e.g. Bacon and egg sandwich. The colonial burger was nice but at $23 I won't be returning for lunch.

10/10 service, welcoming atmosphere, and coffee is great every time. Great range of menu options. The young man who makes coffee & runs tables has amazing service & makes a perfect coffee every time. Thank you! Highly recommend Colonial Cafe.

Friendly, relaxed comfortable cafe. We had a colonial breakfast and was ample food! Good selection of cabinet food as well.

I ordered a chicken burger and for the price, the food was minimal. I asked a worker for aioli sauce and he said they only had tomato sauce. My colleague asked and received aioli sauce. The food was below average

While they were able to make my meal gluten free (coeliac) I didn’t receive (nor was I informed I wouldn’t get) fries with my open chicken & brie sandwich as stated on the menu board, yet I still paid full price PLUS the additional charge $2.50 for gluten free bread, all two slices. $24.50 total which was a bit of a rip off for 1 small piece of chicken with salad and bread - way overpriced, equivalent of a toasted sandwich with chicken and salad which would have been at least $15 cheaper! I won’t be going back after being ripped off.
*edit*
No additional ingredients were involved (unless no fries and no brie are “additional”) so less, bread would have been used no matter the type. Therefore no additional time require - in fact, less. My “condition” as you refer to it (as an inconvenience) is not “unique” unlike dietary choices, there’s a difference. You did not attended to my table “at
least three times” only once, and I have the guests were dining with me to confirm this.
You have proven with your response you are a rip off! None of this is personal opinion, but fact

A regular go to lunch spot. A wide variety on the menu but I personally love the toasted sandwiches! Great price and delicious. Staff are very friendly!

The scrambled eggs with hash browns and their homemade shortbread make this place my go to.
You make ask yourself how good can scrambled eggs be? Try it for yourself and thank me later.

Recommended by a local.
Awesome. Had the big Breakfast at $25.50.
The food looked clean and fresh and tasted the same way with every mouth full as for the pastry it was to die for with pastry crum all over the front of my top. Who cares when the food tasted this good.
Maybe the Breakfast chefs from Old Baileys should go up the Terrace to the Colonial Cafe and get a lesson on how to respect the food your handling for your customers.
Colonial Cafe your awesome.

Lovely coffee. Decent menu and the kitchen is quick and efficient, but also a good selection from the cabinet if you need to grab and go. Eggs Benedict was simple and delicious. A cozy busy vibe in the morning but still enough space for the takeaway crowd to get through without trouble. Staff were great, seem to be really happy here and they get the job done quickly while still being friendly. Good job guys

Classic cafe of a style not seen so much these days. Range of cooked (eg full breakfast) hot (pies) and cold (sandwhich) food. Decent coffee. And amaaaaaazingly friendly and chirpy service.

Great breakfast. Great Coffee. Stopped at this gem every weekday morning on a recent business trip and had a few different menu items, but the colonial poached eggs were just plain perfect. Also appreciated that the servings were the right size and the prices were very good for a downtown business district. Will certainly return on the next visit.

On 8 Dec 2021 visited the cafe to find the kitchen staf were wearing face masks around their chins and scratching their nose and ears while preparing food. Clearly no respect for their customers

This place is my go to for all things food. Awesome service and amazing omelettes. Their sausages are the largest and most impressive sausages. Consider this cafe the capital of the sausage world. Prepare to be both impressed and slightly threatened when you order one.

11/10, would be awed by a sausage again

It opens earlier than other cafes (maybe 6am?) which is a real bonus for early starters, good service, I had their big breakfast which was alright.
