Dragonfly reviews
65 This place is always super busy. This Japanese Asian fusion restaurant is absolutely packed during the weekends. Even though today is Monday, most seats were taken. Their food and service never disappoint us. All the people I know always say good things about this place.
Tonight was no exception. We had their Coconut Squid to start with. Their preparation is unique, and their squid is so tender and delicious. We also shared Sticky Pork Belly, Salmon 2 Ways, and Sesame Noodle Salad from the main course to share. They were absolutely divine! This place offers some unique seasonings and presentations compared to many places that offer similar tastes or food. We shared their
Star Anise Panna Cotta and Korean Twisted Donuts for dessert. They were both really tasty.
We were so full and happy with all the food and friendly service. Thank you for the great food and time! We loved our evening there tonight. We totally recommend this place.
Absolutely wonderful ambience, -warm, cosy atmosphere. Great service. However disappointed to pay $37 for the Pork Belly main and get 4 tiny pieces of Pork Belly, and a handful of Mung Bean Sprouts.and that's it! For $37! Spent alot for our meal and starters and still felt hungry when we left. But the ambience of the place is awesome.
Highly recommend Great menu exceptional flavors and delicious choices a very good drinks menu and the place was very busy
Extremely expensive for average food. Waitress ignored us for a long time before we could order. Then they asked for a tip at the end. Not coming back
Probably one of the most overrated places I've been to. Chicken was overcooked, but worry not because I couldn't even finish it due to the waiter abruptly removing my plate without asking if I had finished. Food was ok but overpriced for what it was. Would not choose to go again.
Love the amazing waitresses and beautiful
Place to eat. However I ordered the sesame noodles and it’s just green leafs, green stringy noodles and green beans. Is this Asian fusion? Because it doesn’t look appetising to me neither tasted anything like Asian food. I definitely think it should be changed to something more authentic of what a normal sesame noodle would look n taste like, and not something like an aesthetic appeal.
First time eating here. Amazing food, excellent service and atmosphere. A lot of attention to the detail and flavors of the dishes. Would recommend to family and friends as a must visit place when in Wellington.
Went one night just for cocktails and the following night for food and more cocktails. Sensational for both. Super fresh flavors for the food as you would expect. We shared an entree, had separate mains and shared a dessert. Definitely no more food or sides required. Cocktail list was extensive with unique ones that we couldn't fault. Fast and attentive service.
As a first year postgraduate student, I wanna find a part-time job to cover my living costs. This restaurant give me a unpaid trial. And I cleaned so many dishes for more than 3 hours and no pay. After that, they tell me they can’t offer this position for no reason.
Superb. First time there and with a big group too. Food was sensational, the service was the best we've had in Wellington in a long time.
Gorgeous restaurant, one of Wellington’s best. Pan Asian with lots of flex for allergies/intolerances, lots of pesce/vege options, incredible wine list, unique cocktails and always impeccable service.
Dragon fly is raved about but to be honest it is pretty average. Korean broccoli is just steamed broccoli. Duck curry is a more expensive and worse version of old quarter duck curry. Service is good and the cocktails are good but if you want to pay double the price for a worse version of old quarter then this is your place.
Busy place with amazing food. Even though the place was full on a Friday night, exceptional food and excellent service. Was really impressed, would definitely recommend for an Asian infusion of flavors.
We went to dragonfly for my birthday on 22/02/2000 and the experience was beyond incredible.
The server was exceptional, I have a lot of allergies and she took a menu to the kitchen where the chefs went through it and ticked off everything I could eat, which made my dining experience completely relaxed.
The cocktails were great, the food was outstanding and everyone was amazing, I highly recommend this place to everyone.
Con-fusion tonight.salad ingredients un-fresh, more smoke than fire on the salmon, tasteless mocktail served in a kiddie cup, duck burnt and tasteless, wasted money tonight.service staff didn't seem to know what they were doing.downgraded.
Last three visits to Dragonfly were outstanding - the food, the drinks, the service were 5 stars.
We visited on 11 Feb and most of the dishes were as I remembered, but the service was poor (forgot drinks order) and the condiments that go with a great fusion meal (chillli oil and soy) didn’t arrive until we’ll into the meal - the chilli oil was replaced with Sriracha sauce! It might be the National lack of staff, but it just wasn’t as good as it has been. Shame.
Noisy, service slow at times. We'd booked the courtyard (as the main restaurant was full) but were instead seated at the bar.
Stools were uncomfortable and the bar area was very noisy (especially the rough banging and clanging of drinks being prepared).
Food here is great and it is popular, but it wasn't the right atmosphere for us.
We had the most beautiful celebratory dinner at Dragonfly. The food was beautifully prepared - the red duck curry was a highlight - and we loved the China Girl and Last Samurai cocktails!
Disappointed. Massaman spring rolls we're ok as was the edamame hummus. The duck curry was succulent and the short rib fell apart however the flavours just weren't punchy enough. Disappointed for the price. If it was $25 a plate, then sure. But at $45 a plate then I expect more. I was also disappointed that there was no fees me or banquet options for 2 people. Honestly, I would not recommend to friends and family.
Absolutely fabulous experience. Everything was superb - the staff the food the cocktails. We will definitely be returning.
