Fishermans Table Restaurant reviews
45Very good location, with a spectacular view of the ocean. Menu includes both sea food and land food. The service is quick and the food is delicious. Prices are okay, in line with the quality of the place.
Possibly the worst food. The chowder was definitely frozen and fried chicken and fish was unseasoned. When I raised this issue the waitress said they don't season on purpose.
Why would you not season your food - not even salt?
Was there with my family and best friends. To celebrate my 70th bash. Theres no doubt about the view. Afraid the food was well below par. When theres a lot of food partly consumed left on the table, it is an indication that it's going to be one of those days. Best part of my celebration was having 2 beers great conversation and the love n hugs from my grands. We left with a maybe next time. We'll see, mabe.
Excellent. First time at this restaurant, lunch time pre-booked table. The table was right next to the amazing view overlooking the beach and Kapiti Island. Very friendly staff, served very quickly, entree arrived within 10 minutes, meals approx 20 mins later with all you can eat salad available prior. Waitress very efficient, friendly and fast. Food was delicious, fresh, steak with garlic butter, fish burger and chicken tenderloins, salad selection was huge and delicious, plenty on offer. Hot veges available too, peas, corn, roast spuds, cauliflower. Meals came with chips or 1 very big croquette (battered herbed spud ball). Pavalova soft, fluffy and huge, passion fruit syrup was suburb. Reasonably priced meals. Coffee was 1 of the best I've had for ages. It was busy being Matariki weekend and 2 large group bookings there but plenty of staff. Well worth a stop. We'll be back.
I experienced this little gem only recently, absolutely loved my visit here. Sat outside facing the ocean, eating my dinner, my food was amazing i cant fault it, everything was top notch, desert was devine. I hope to be back soon
As usual a really gr. Eat lunch in fabulous setting. I've been going here since they opened goodness knows how many years ago.
They say the food is cheap and the view is worth a million dollars. Sums up the place nicely really. The service was really good, the staff were friendly, funny and well mannered. The food is relatively cheap as advertised, but in terms quality, I'd put it on par with RSA or pub food at best. I had pan fried fish and it was fine, not awful, not great. I guess I just had higher expectations for the options and freshness of the fish at a place called "Fisherman's table". The view is pretty nice, my guess is it'd be at least a million dollar view at current property prices
Don't be fooled by the 4+ rating this place has!
For an oceanside restaurant the seafood is atrocious. The calamari had similar consistency and flavour to a car tyre, and the fish was flavourless and mushy. The waitress said it was fresh but it seemed frozen.
The only decent food was the salad but it was premade in advance so the croutons were very soggy.

Restaurant service was comprised by the Covid situation. One or two dishes not available. I was surprised that there was no battered fish on the menu, the deep fried options were all crumbed. Crumbed fish portions a bit on the small side. But we had a nice evening. I like the choice of croquette potatoes or chips. The salad bar was not operating due to Covid restrictions but an assortment was served at the table. These were tasty and fresh.
Amazing food. Anything that was involved with seafood. I ate.then the cheese cake.wow. Homemade and it was delicious.having the view of the sea was worth the meal. I would definitely recommend going there. I'm definitely coming back with my family
Had a delicious meal with an amazing view with my wife and service was friendly and professional, Highly recommended
Great service! I am from Dunedin, had lunch with extended family and we all loved it, thank you!
The salad boat is a big plus for this restaurant. Unfortunately due to covid a set salad is supplied with the menu.
Absolutely disgusting. Waited 20minutes for any kind of service. When we asked what was in the salad the gentleman didnt have any idea. 2 people had fish it had s funny taste and was very watery. Our grandaughter waited 45minutes after her main course to get her dessert and that was because we asked for it. The Manager at the end hid from us so she didnt have to deal with us. Won't be returning.
Wasn't a very good experience this time around. Staff didn't know if we had ordered or not, no salad boat (which is pretty much best thing about the place) instead you get a choice of 2 things rather than the huge range they normally have for the same price. Food was very average
Overall really poor! Had a table of 17, general consensus is that all dishes were below average, frozen and reheated rubbish. Wouldn’t go back!
Dined here tonight and terrible service. Had to get go to the bar and ask for kids menu, then pencil, then water while staff chatted. Expected to pay for all you can eat salad bar but only get two salad options. Food was gross and toilets disgusting everyone was crammed in one corner when meant to be 2m apart
Location - top class views of Kapiti Island. Food - really good starters and salad. Mussels were tasty. Mains weren't up to the expectations as it tasted pretty average. Staff were very friendly.
The view is stunning and service is nice. The food could use a few more spices and I got better crumbed fish in Plimmerton.
Tonight I was dining here with my mum and we were disappointed with our experience and will not go back. Firstly my glass was dirty when the waiter brought over the water (which we had to ask for). We then received our meals - my mum's meal -special fish of the day was overcooked and rubbery - my fish mornay was not nice I THEN FOUND A PEACE OF GREEN WIRE IN MY FOOD it looked like off a scrubber used for cleaning the fry pans ect. GROSS!
Reported this to the duty manager my mum got something else offered and I did not get offered anything else to eat and left hungry with no apology or anything.
Some off the staff were rude and made this experience less enjoyable also.
Very sad as this used to be a great place to eat
