Juniper Restaurant & Bar reviews
51Lovely venue for a girls catchup dinner. Excellent food & service. Can definitely recommend the caramelized roti - the accompanied citrus butter is divine!
Service pleasant. Sometimes had to get the staffs attention. Maybe Monday is a difficult night. Wines by the glass offered were rather ho hum with best cabernet merlot offered (only by the bottle) the to my mind uninspiring ata rangi celebre. Pinots by the glass also supermarket level like rabbit ranch. Best pinot, again only by the bottle, was amisfield pinot noir. This was OK although had some combined sulphur on the nose. Staff kindly found us a water jug to help breathe that off. Maple Pork belly and accoutrements was excellent except the mashed potato tasted like it had been made from dehydrated potato powder. Unfortunately the Angus scotch fillet was clearly another cut as instead of mouth-wateringly tender it was inedibly tough and was returned. The hamburger in blue cheese replacement was adequate with very good chips but this writer is not convinced hamburgers are really a great gastronomic advance on a filled bun. Apple pie dessert minus the plums (due to market shortage) was good if not memorable. Espresso coffee was well made. Doubt we'll be back although Monday night in Wellington restaurants are slim pickings. Staff very friendly
Have been to Juniper a number of times for cocktails and tapas after work. They have attentive service, quality drinks at a reasonable price, and a tidy and well prepared food menu. An easy recommendation.
Great surroundings with top service, when you and the staff can crack a joke. The disappointment was none. The food that we ordered was of a quality equal to and above the expectations I had. That place is of great value and experience for dining.
Great food, Burger Wellington offering was a great price and delicious. Great cocktail selection and huge gin selection.
Absolutely love coming to Juniper when in Wellington for work. The food is so tasty and the drinks are incredible! I had the Beef Cheeks which were so tender and flavoursome. The Honey Trap cocktail was just brilliant! Staff are so friendly and it is the perfect place to nip out and have a drink or bite to eat with friends or colleagues.
One of our go-to bars.
Right the middle of the CBD, in Lambton Quay area. Easy to reach, plenty of paid street parking spots (not during the peak hours though) and friendly, fast service. Staff are very helpful as well.
I usually go for a get-together with some friends and communities here, ordering mocktails and finger foods. Love their pizzas, calamari, and wedges.
Enough space upstairs and if we book, we can have the spot for ourselves. The tables for dining is down stairs. It has some outdoor chairs as well
The entrance has stairs on it so it might be tricky for those with wheelchair.
The food is very good, delicious, and the service is super good. The bartending is very good, and it is also the famous Gin Bar. The food is excellent, delicious, and the service is excellent. The blending is very good, and it's also the famous Gin Bar
Came here for dinner recently and they were super busy with an event on nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing! Best steak I've had in a long time. Cant wait to come back!
Great food with good portions (very nice steak), served by a friendly staff! Sweet choice of gins and cocktails, all for an affordable price. Nice adress in Wellington!
Without doubt the best steak I've had in Wellington and likely the entire country (which came as a complete surprise given the amount of eateries here that pride themselves on steak). Very friendly service, wonderfully accommodating of dietary requirements and incredible food. Visiting from Auckland but I will be back! Thank you for the great meal and hospitality!
Absolutely beautiful asian cuisine in a tiny little restaurant in Devonport. Just went to Devonport for a day trip whilst in Auckland to reminisce and ended up staying for dinner, so glad we did. Friendly staff and great food, we ordered quote a few dishes to share between the 4 of us and it was perfect.
Good service, nice cocktails, menu bit boring, but was good. Rissotto was split and under seasoned.
Very quiet on a Tuesday. Delicious filling burgers. Service was friendly. Missing a vibe. Felt kinda cafe/bar in layout.
Booked and confirmed with Ivy at Juniper. Got there to find restaurant closed until January. It would only have taken an email or text with an apology. Very disappointed!
What a great spot. There were about 50 of us there, and we had a set menu. Delicious food, great value and excellent staff. Definitely going back!
This restaurant was a very plesant find on the spur of the moment. There is a comprehensive cocktail and drinks menu and they specialise in many types of gin. The menu was a one pager, with an excellent mix of red and white meats as well as vegetarian and vegan options, mostly with a western style. The food was amazing, fresh, well presented and portion sizes were good, but not over the top. Had the beef cheeks, totally recommend, my wife had a chicken dish which was also delicious (had a small taste.) The prices are reasonable and the service was friendly and helpful. Wait times were not extensive. Great layout and although looks deceptively small it opens out into a reasonably sized split level affair. Absolutely recommend this restarant, will go again.
Attended a work xmas function at this venue. Great service and food.
Would use this venue again. Manager was extremely helpful when organising arrangements.
The tapas were horrible and we ordered calamari, mushrooms, olives and bread with guacamole & hummus. The last time I went to Juniper was 15 years ago and the reputation and food was highly rated. I won’t be going back anytime soon. Recommend that you pay more money and go across the road to Avida.
My wife and I took our daughter and her partner to Juniper for a meal. The food was excellent and the staff were fantastic. I strongly recommend this restaurant / bar!
