Kilbirnie Fish & Chips reviews
52Spent $74 on 3 scoops of chips, 4x fish, 4x vege rolls, 4x pineapple fritters and 2x potato scallops and got served the old, stale chips from the cold chip mountain laying next to the deep fryer. Other items were ok. Only the seagulls enjoyed the food with enthusiasm.
Fantastic fish and the BEST chips/fries in Wellington! Huge portions!
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS LOCAL BUSINESS. They have always been amazing and the food is great.
Needs a little spruce up, but small businesses are not doing well right now, so hopefully these things can be afforded down the track.
$12 for two scoops of chips is a bit much! Was average as well not rushing back that’s for shure.
Headed out to Kilbirnie tonight to try the offerings from the Kilbirnie Fish & Chips shop.
Meal: Fish & Chips and a Hotdog.
Total: : $16.50
Fish (Warehou) was thick and tasty. Though generally fibrous, it flaked in chunks as expected. The batter felt a little underdone beneath but the crunch was solid with a golden brown hue. Delicious!
Chips. As mentioned before these Chinese takeaways have a knack for dishing up a delicious chip! Large crinkle cut (my fav) chips with that boarder line crunch and pillowy centre. Portion size was very good.
I love a good hotdog in batter. The classic saveloy deep fried in a decent batter. This one ticked the box!
Excellent fish and chips and burgers. Thick and tasty homemade beef patties. Our 3 year old nearly ate the whole cheeseburger! Crumbed chicken burger was great too. Kumara chips have a slight batter so are always crispy and not soggy like other fish and chip shops
Great food everytime. Get them on deliveryeasy often. Great chips, spring rolls and fried rice!
Not good wonton they were almost burnt in color and the fish wasn't much better. I won't be going back.
Tried the crumbed and battered fish. Good sized pieces, thick and tasty. Not a huge fan of the crinkle cut chips but over all very nice. Worth another go next time.
The previous owners family have taken back ownership.
The best fish and chips in the world!
Great food, good portions. Nice big fish and the cheese burger had a really big patty. Yes they do have an eftpos these days.
Used to have some of the nicest fish and chips.
Since new people have taken over not that good anymore.
Hadn't been here in a while so went in for a Friday night feed, nearly fell flat on my face when I saw how much their prices have gone up. Won't be going back. I've never seen these prices charged for fish n chips anywhere in NZ not even Queenstown. No wonder the shop was empty at peak dinner time, this shop used to have queues out the door on a Friday night.
Nice fish and chips. Big serving of crispy chips. Batter on fish is abit thick. A fish, chips with chicken salt is $10.
Unfortunately lastnight was her last night working there. She looked after my mate for many years, thank you Sam
The customer service from the woman behind the counter is terrible. Doesn’t welcome her customers or thank them when they leave.
Deeply disappointed! The lady that was serving was discourtesy. I'm not expecting people to be kind all time, but to finish it up, crumb fish tasted bad as so it makes me not wanting to never go back there.
If I could give zero I would.
RUDEST lady.seriously don't know why she's in the hospo business!
Food isn't the greatest either.go elsewhere peeps.
I def won't be going back!
Probably the best fish n chip fish in Wellington, consistently good across several orders. The batter is a bit closer to the British style, which is a win.
Friendly lady running it, even gave me some tartare sauce
Food is ok. Staff seemed like I'm the last thing she wants to deal with. Also, not much point in putting in signs about the need for a vaccine pass if the shop person is not checking it. This is the most minimal safety system at the moment and you're not even doing that correctly, make me not want to come here again.
Shocking! Service and food, is a shame as this used to be a favourite go to for over 15 years. Woman serving there is the rudest ever in history who always undercooks your order that is most likely incorrect as she is never happy to be take it nor be there in the first place. In other words, avoid like the plague if you want to bin your purchase
