Absolutely outstanding restaurant. After being turned away from several restaurants due to it being after 9pm Friday night, we tried Ortega. The staff were incredibly welcoming, they were very busy and there was a great atmosphere when we walked in. The service was fast, our waitress Nicole was superb and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. The food was absolutely outstanding. We will most definitely be back when we are next in Wellington! What a find!

Fantastic food! We really enjoyed every dish! The red snapper with bacon broth! And I’ve no idea how they get that octopus so tender. If you’re in Wellington it’s a must.
Also try the house savvy wine it’s delicious!

It still deserves the fantastic reputation it has. The cockle+chorizo+spinach was so good I even drank every drop of the broth. The server with the distinctive glasses made everything perfect for our large family gathering celebrating a wedding anniversary

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner in this wonderful place. Great atmosphere and even better food. Friday night and the place was buzzing, lots of chatter and eating. Ceviche was delicious, as were the oysters, rillettes and prawns tails. Mains of gnocchi, snapper and octopus were all mouthwateringly fantastic. Accompanied by a reasonable alburino and a red, which the others enjoyed, made for a great dinner out. Should also mention the waiting staff who were very attentive and friendly, and forgiving of my poor jokes. Would love to come back again.

This is my favourite restaurant in Wellington and has been for years. Doesn't fail to impress. An all round excellent experience.

The food was exceptional! I'm still thinking about the teeny weeny french toast sando. Our waitress Sophie was an absolute legend, and another waitress helped us find the perfect wine. Everybody went above and beyond to show us a wonderful evening, the best we have had in many moons! Thanks team for a world class dining experience

What a gem this spot is. If you love seafood, you must dine here! The Moki Ceviche was perfection, the grilled octopus tender and delicious, the pan fried Moki filet also divine. We also couldn’t help trying the ‘Fish French Toast’ as a starting nibble - sooo yummy. Next time we’re in Welly, this will be in the top of our list!

Fabulous restaurant specialising in fish. The staff were excellent, very attentive but not overpoweringly so. The food was excellent and the wine list is exhaustive. They also have a large craft beer selection.

I went there for my birthday dinner last evening. The food is simply excellent - was so refined and delicate. The ceviche in particular was a flavour bomb. I can safely say that it is one of the best food I have had in Wellington. Keep up the great work guys.

Phenomenal. We were a little misled by the 'fish shack' description but we were quickly disuaded of that notion once we arrived. Excellent drink and food menu all around. I love rum drinks, and they had plenty of rum-based cocktails plus more. I had the delicious Sticky Date Pudding for dessert, and I wish I had gotten the paired port suggestion with it! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. The ambiance was nice a cozy with an upscale sailing/tiki vibe. There is even a space upstairs for a large party that is nice and secluded.

Came for my birthday and it made my day. Food and service was excellent. The wine list looks like a Bible. I will certainly be back

My Partner and I booked a late evening meal here on Thursday 22nd Sept.
The staff were absolutely amazing. This is what hospitality looks like. We both felt welcome by the sea of smiles and great atmosphere

What an absolute delight. The best meal out I have had in a long while. To dine here is not just a great meal it is an experience! The food is delicious, the staff are fabulous and the ambiance is perfect.

The service was good, but particularly slow that night. We waited more than 1h30 between our arrival and the main dish.

Amazing food and the staff are so friendly. Super fast delivery of our meals and they were all delicious! Highly recommended and will definitely be going back again. Great night out.

Went out for dinner with friends and it was a great experience. The menu is exciting, the food is of excellent quality, and the staff are very professional and friendly. One of the top places to eat in Wellington I reckon!
