Portlander Bar & Grill reviews
93The staff there were awesome, atmosphere was beautiful, food was amazing. Product knowledge and suggestions were perfect, thank you team for making the effort to provide my wife and I the perfect date night meal
Fantastic all around. The steak was a perfect cut and cooked to perfection. The cauliflower au gratin was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The oysters were just oysters. Espresso martini was the perfect after dinner drink and pink lady sub vodka was quite tasty as well.
Nice food. Took about 90 mins to get food. And they also gave us cokes with no flavor in them and then argued with us thar they were ok. Will not be going back because of the speed and lack of service
The bun on my pork belly burger was burnt. Not edible. Not good.
The steak on my partners meal was well cooked- not good for medium rare. Not good.
I ordered the medium rare eye fillet steak. The steak was undercooked, even on both sides. None of the staff came to check the taste of the food. I don't think the taste is good enough for the price.
After trying 3 other restaurants looking for a steak I stumbled across the Portlander and upon browsing the menu I saw the steak I was looking for.
Once seated, I enjoyed the dark ambiance of the dinning room, and was the excited when I saw the seared venison special put in front of me.
As a Chef with 30+ years experience I was pleasantly surprised when the dish arrived. It was perfectly cooked and the balance in flavours was excellent.
Bravo for throwing a dish out there that most restaurants would not. Congrats to the chefs working a Monday night, they crushed this dish and I am super happy and thankful that did.

Very good. I would put the cool sticker of the animals lower because it would be nice to see the world go by as we sat at a window seat.
Located onsite within The Rydges Hotel on the ground floor. Nice atmosphere and friendly service from the waitresses. Easy access for wheelchairs and parking right in front, on the street. The food was delicious, pork belly and rib eye steak were beautiful and finished off with lovely deserts. Will definitely go there again.
Steak, delicious! Service, attentive and friendly! Price expected.
Exactly what you expect of this sort of resturant. Slightly smaller portions but cooked well!
Will come back to Portlander.
A little disappointed tonight to go into the restaurant where I have been a number of times and always had great service to feel a bit of an inconvenience. The cheese burger was great but the service was not so good this evening. Hopefully just a bad night.
Love this restaurant. Lovely staffs and great food! Got to try the sous vide beef eye fillet, amazingly cooked!
Service was poor. My second drink took 20mins because the order was lost. Eye fillet steaks that cost more than $40 each tasted like an average rump steak. Music sounded like we were in a nightclub. Worse of all was when i went to pay my $200 bill they wouldnt accept cash because of Covid. Apparently not all money is the same. Im never going back.
Been try so many places for dry-ages beef, but today i finally find a best ever dry-ages steak in my life. The nutty taste, the flavours, the texture of the steak dancing in my mouth. Fabulous.
Amazing food! Love the sous vide beef fillet! Shared with my hubby, big portions! And nice ambiance and lovely staffs!
Food was ok, but not startling. The delivery of drinks from the bar was very, very slow. Location and setting is convenient and pleasant.
Not exceptional. We were looking forward to our Xmas team lunch here. Had booked it a month ago. Arrived to an empty room, great, first in first orders to kitchen. Sat 20 mins before drink orders, got drinks by 1230 and ate at 1pm. Drinks slow to get served, twice. Parts of order not taken and therefore not served. I wanted that broccoli! Steak was OK. Nothing to write home about. I was expecting better for $40 and it was mediocre. Went for some food afterwards to fill up.
Wakanui ribeye was one of the best steaks I've had. My wife had the salmon and she was smiling the whole time. Great service i will be back for the dry aged sirloin.
Went back there as we had a fabulous dinner last time but tonight was such a disappointment. Ordered 2 steak dinners medium and both came raw. Informed the staff they took them back and they still came back raw in the middle. The chips were hard in the middle and the salads were very salty.
Waitress staff were fantastic and tried to help as much as possible.
Salad was good. Soup was great. Service nice other than no legal tender accecpted and we didn't know that until we went to pay. Ribeye not good. Eye fillet was okay. I'll skip the sides if I ever went back.
We were told this is the best steak in town and didn't disappoint However I was bowled by the cauliflower cheese (au gratin?) Side dish OMG best ever I will be coming back just for this!
