Refinery Bar & Eatery (used to be The Social)

Easy to book, seated promptly, service a bit slow bit busy with a big birthday group, table sticky to touch, entree was ok but not what's on menu. Mains came out luke warm (fish colder than the salad) and other order came with sauces/dressings after explicit request of no dressing or sauces. Waitress initially tried to deny it was dressing/sauce then apologized for kitchen stuff up but made no offer to put it right. Left to have after dinner drinks and dessert elsewhere. Poor form and kinda darkened our night out for wife's birthday. Wouldn't recommend

Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Garlic bread was not garlic bread. We asked for garlic butter and were given 2 scoops of butter in bowls Had to clear our own tables even though the place was empty.sad in a climate where people are struggling to keep there business open. The pork belly did bot have crakling more like tough skin and the steaks had more fat then meat. Not sure why there were so many good posts about this place

Food was lovely but rather a long wait. I chose something off my menu and was told after an hour that it wasn't available and they ran out of ice cream on the Saturday of a long weekend!

Great drinks and attentive staff, however the food, i could’ve cooked better at home.

We booked using their on line email a few days prior to dining. We did not get confirmation so phoned them up. They told us we had not booked. Then we got a call later to say they had found the email. We confirmed that we would be using a restaurant association voucher to pay and that there would be five of us not four. When we arrived they went to place us at a four seat setting down the restaurant end and then proceeded to tell us that we had to move down to the bar end to eat because they could not accommodate us. The food was sub standard and then when we went to pay using the voucher they basically argued and were not going to accept it. In the end they did but it was one of those ones where they gave no change if using a voucher.

Night out with some friends & we thought we would try the Refinery for a change as we all gi out together once a week trying different restaurants.
Food was okay & as for the prices of there bottle of wines, we were SHOCKED! $45 for a bottle which is absolutely ridiculous especially when you order 2 bottles for your table!
We all decided after that, not going back.
Ridiculous price especially when you can buy 7 good bottles at the bottle store for the cost of the Refinerys 2!
Disgusting & way over priced to all other places we dine out at.

Loud, very rushed, booked online, on arrival no booking in system, staff had a list of customers on a hand written list, look its 2022 not 1990, received confirmation by txt? Beer was good, Tuatara, wine was nice, food very good, service was OK, unfortunately two big group bookings on the night, probably had alot to do with how the service went. Disappointing.

For the price I paid, I expected food that is made in house. I was really dissatisfied when I a frozen reconstituted chicken chicken patty when I ordered a char grilled chicken breast. This is $30 on their menu

Fantastic joint. The new owners have done an amazing job transforming this place into what it is today. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is next level. The lamb pie is so gooooood

The dinner I had here was pretty bad on a few counts - food took over 45 minutes to arrive (despite me being one of very few patrons), and it was extremely poor quality given the high prices being charged. Staff were lovely but not enough to redeem the experience.

Been a few times and pretty up and down average. Went a a few nights ago with limited expectations - ended up walking out as was very cold inside and even after 10 + minutes there wasn't even a bottle of water on the table. Turn the heating on and sell me a drink and I would have overlooked many faults. Can't be easy in hospo right now (or have been for a while), but for the sake of customers who want to support you, please up your game or at least don't drop the ball entirely. We actually want to have a nice experience and for you to succeed.

Had a group booking for a birthday party last Friday. The staff were attentive and friendly. There was a mixup with our food but they were so lovely and gave us some free shots. The food was generous and tasty. Our whole table enjoyed the various dishes. Would definitely recommend. Thanks team.

Dropped by early evening on the off chance and were made more than welcome. Dinner was build your own steak which was cooked exactly how we wanted it. Enjoyable dinner and table service was excellent

Despite reduced staff numbers and supplies due to Covid the food & drinks were superb and the service outstanding. Love this place.

Service was top notch, atmosphere was great and the brisket burger was the best burger I've eaten in years!

The Refinery recently hosted our special family event. The staff went above and beyond to make it successful. Nothing was a bother and the service was great, lovely platters and food. Everyone had a nice time and staff also helped with the decorations for set up and helped tidy up our stuff afterwards. Cannot recommend them highly enough. They have a separate social room available for small groups, nicely decorated and private.

Had a really nice experience here. They made sure to scan our vaccine passes, the food was perfect, the staff were nice and I can't wait to go back to try their wood fired pizza!

Can't fault the service, but food was very average. Twice cooked pork belly was tough/chewy with absolutely no crackle on the skin (just gelatinous fat).
Mashed potatoes tasted like they were made with from a packet, somehow dry and gluggy at the same time. Will not be back

Strange place and service staff was also not very friendly.
The table I was allocated to was sticky like hell. Food below average bar food. The chicken burger was quite soggy and the chicken itself not crunchy and tasteless. All in all not the best experience. No revisit.
