Great selection and service to match. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious and variety is assured. Also available are oysters and mussels, as well as kina.
Have become a repeat customer and highly recommend

If you are heading this way then Solways loaded fries are a must. For $10 you get a decent portion of wedges with plenty of bacon, cheese, sweet chilli sauce and sour cream. They are delicious!

The new owners know their stuff. When we heard it changed hands we went, and it is now our go to fish and chip shop. Every time the fish is perfect, and chips cooked to perfection. They were out of Hoki, and I was worried about the Warehou being dry and fishy but oh my gosh, perfect. Yum.

First time here tonight to Solway Seafood & Fish and Chips. WHAT A GREAT FIND in Masterton!
The chips were a good grade potato and cooked to perfection in CLEAN oil.
The egg burger was excellent - good bun, tasty meat patty, fresh crispy lettuce, fresh tomato, onion and beetroot. The home made potato fritters were covered in a super good batter and were the best we've tasted - ever.perfect. You cant beat good old fashioned Kiwi takeaways. Thankyou for all your hard mahi.

Went in for the first time today, a small shop this a fairly long menu. I just ordered a small meal for 2, fish & chips, the chips were amazingly well cooked, really lovely and absolutely no oily taste to them, delicious. The fish was a good size, and the batter was probably THE BEST i've ever had from a kiwi Fish & Chip shop, very cripy, dark, and delicious. I didn't order any specific piece of fish, so I assume i got whatever was the cheapest, that was a mistake, it wasn't great, but i think that was more to do with just that type of fish - think mushy like that SeaLord rubbish. Next time i would be sure to order a better quality of piece of fish, but you sure cannot fault the chips and the batter, excellent. Also, they were very quick, food ready in about 8 minutes. I would highly recommend this establishment purely on that Fish batter.

If you're after a true kiwi fish n chips then this is the fish n chip shop for you! Paua, fry bread and more Staff are pretty awesome too

One small negative - I hate when people touch their hair while handling food.
That aside. Fish was good size, tasty and nicely cooked. Chips were perfect. And OMG, finally someone who understands what a Hawaiian burger is! (not just a pineapple ring added!)
Will be going back to try more of their range.

Fish does not taste fresh, and guy cooking the meal has sweat dripping into deep fryer from face, the amount of chips and fish I got for 25$ meal was the size of a 10$ meal

Went there on Dec. 10, ordered 4 fish and medium chips. 1 fish was hard and dry like it was a day nor 2 old, the other fish was water logged, either frozen and not dried or water soaked, the batter tasted off. Prices have gone up quite a bit. Used to go there once a month but will not be back. Can't score less than 1.

We ordered fish n chips, hot dog and burger. Horrible.fish was soooo oily and so much batter.the hotdog was disgusting again so much batter.couldnt even see the stick! Burger wasnt the greatest. I would not recommend this place at all.
Disappointed, as we were looking forward to our meal after a long day on the road.
