Soprano Ristorante reviews
69The staff were amazing, so friendly and attentive and welcoming, nice clean place, food was good and served with a good timely manner
Our group of seven ate at Sopranos on Saturday 19th August. We had a range of starters and mains. All of the dishes were beautifully cooked and of an appropriate size and tasted great.
The owners young family were waitressing and did a very good job with the service and their attention to our table.
Sopranos has BYO wine and is licensed. To have that flexibility is fantastic and with just a $5 charge per person for BYO that really does help with the cost.
Give them a go and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Attentive service. Had Masala Chicken, not on menu, but done as a special - was outstanding. Desert, trio of sorbet was delightful. Certainly will go back.
Looks like the chef's understanding of median for the eyes rib steak is different with me, but the side potato and vegetables are taste good.
Hi the Atmosphere was lovely, service was great I had the pork belly, full of delicious flavours, only 1 pork chop, I could of eaten 2, my Partner had the Rib eye steak, very small serving of vegetables on his plate, we each had a 3 course meal, or else we would of still been hungry. I did very much love my dinner there, I would go again
Parking around the area is good
Great service & excellent Italian food,
warm ambiance with clean toilets, easy access, chill music, the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend this place ️
Our first time at Sopranos, we had seen good reviews and heard good things about them from others.we were not disappointed!
The service was excellent, the young waitress was friendly, attentive, efficient and knew what she was doing.
The food, well let's say it was simply divine. Wait times were about right, the portion sizes right not too big or small. The flavours, spot on. Every flavour came through as it should with nothing over powering others.
The price was reasonable for the quality and service. We left very satisfied with our dining experience. Thank you Sopranos
The take away meal I ordered was the seafood marinara. It was discussing and over priced. $37 with 3 very small baby sized mussels# 3 Shrimp rings that when you chewed them there was like pieces of rubber that came off them, look at 2nd photo, the Seafood obviously came straight out of the freezer. It was so bland I gave it to the dog where I live. The picture of the menu on this site shows the Pasta is thick. What I got was string. Very disappointed and feel ripped off. Never going back again. Looks like there is no feature here to add photos
Had an open mind when booking but boy-o-boy, that dinner tonight was simply delightful and outstanding cuisine (never said that before in a review). I had the squid entree which was fresh and tasty, better than most I’ve had but the duck was to die for. Everyone else at our table were effusive in praise of their dish too. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Absolutely awful. Soprano's used to be our go to restaurant for family celebrations. Tonight we waited over an hour between entree and main and got told that there was a group. Won't be going back. Note only added one star because I couldn't do zero.
Delicious food at reasonable prices and excellent service. You need to try here at least once.
I had the fettuccine chicken/mushroom/blur cheese dish. I loved it! I took half of it home, and gave it to my son. He scored it an 8/10!
Went early doors on a Wednesday without a booking and was pleasantly surprised at being able to get a table.
The food was excellent quality and the portions substantial.
Not cheap but acceptable.
Absolutely fabulous meal. Best ever. So enjoyed the chicken Pollo. Would recommend it to everyone. Definitely coming back again lots
By far the best Italian Restaurant in Kapiti. Excellent meal, excellent menu choice, excellent atmosphere.
I dined in on Friday 19th August. Wanted the seafood pasta dish - but without the pasta (spaghetti). A big ask I realise for a pasta dish. But was served a delicious dish - incredible seafood in sauce on a bed of baby spinach. Delicious! Thanks very much. Vicky
Three of us dined to celebrate my dads birthday.luckily we had booked as they were busy on a Thursday night. We were offered either the al'carte menu or a winter special set menu. At $55 for 3 courses this was amazing value. Super Generous servings and delish.calamari, brushetta, gnocci, bolognese and deserts of Banofee pie and caramel deconstructed cheesecake.topped with caramel popped corn.so inventive! Thanks for the attentive service and gorgeous food. Highly recommend.
I don't like writing bad reviews, but I realised that reviews are what help people make choices of where to spend their hard earned money, and this was on the upper end of meal prices, with no satisfaction (for me).
There were two major issues for me: the food was dry (a common complaint in these reviews) and there was no sense that I had spent the evening in a Italian restaurant. There was also the wait-time.
The food is the major reason I'm adding my thoughts here, seeing as that is what a restaurant is primarily about. The bolognaise had almost no tomato and was more like pan fried mince with little to no seasoning, placed on top of rigatoni pasta (which is an odd choice for a bolognaise). The dish was visibly dry, which the owner/manager agreed with.
The gnocchi was also incredibly dry. I was told they ran out of gnocchi sauce in preparing my dish, so rather than make some fresh sauce or ask me to change my choice, they served another dry plate of food.
These mistakes highlight the chief reason why the food is not good: there is no one on the pass, checking quality as the dishes go out. We waited for an hour for our meals, and the restaurant was only half full. We also noticed that dishes sit on the pass for up to 15mins, waiting to be picked up.
Overall.an extremely underwhelming experience for 2 people that cost $200.
Went here based on a lot of good reviews. Very disappointed the gnocchi I got tasted like a microwave meal and was more like a lasagne. My partner got the seafood spaghetti which was average at best. Not authentic fresh Italian food at all. I don't know if we went on an off night but I would not recommend to anyone especially for the high price.
We had a very disappointing and expensive dinner at Soprano. Mains are upwards of $32 (with some as expensive as $38), so you would expect five star food and service. The gnocchi we had was definitely not made from scratch, which I think for the price you would expect. It didn't taste like authentic italian food and nobody at the table finished their food as it was overly salty but otherwise flavourless. The service was poor, we were never asked if we wanted a second drink or offered a dessert menu and overall we paid A LOT for a really disappointing experience. Perhaps if it was half the price it might have been bearable.
