Swagat India / Spice and Flame reviews
38 Reading the reviews we were looking forward to our dinner here tonight, but unfortunately we were dissapointed. The decor is run down and could do with some TLC.
The Lamb Seekh Kebab was on the colder side of warm, we also ordered chicken noodles which had next to no flavour. The curries were tasty, however the portion size was tiny and what you would expect to get if you ordered during a lunch special, would not pay full price and definitely not worth $18 for a curry especially for what was served up, luckily we had booked a first table. We had a bit of curry and two triangles of naan left over but they would not let us take it away as it was apparently the rules of first table (Never came across that before - I could understand if we ordered more food just to takeaway, but these were just some left overs) such a waste of food that we had paid for but just couldnt finish. I hope the bin enjoyed the rest or I hope you donated it to someone in need.
Will not recommend, and will not be back.
Awesome place for Indian food. Has free parking lot next to restaurant. The service, food and ambience was awesome. Must try swagat special paneer curry with garlic naan.
Definitely the best out of the many Indian food places I've tried in Lower Hutt and Wellington!
Thank you Neeta for accommodating us on a Monday night.
Your service and food was excellent. You do know that we will be back.
Absolutely delicious! This is our local favorite! We are regulars soo glad its opened up for level 3 lockdown was amazing as usual
Food and service at this suburban restaurant both exceeded my expectation. Well worth visiting for value let alone the great experience.
Great place to visit. Best food in town and definitely awesome for birthday party. Highly recommended.
We booked out the restaurant and enjoyed a very tasty and well priced buffet. Will definitely be back.
Food was very tasty. The group I was with thought the portion sizes were a little bit smaller than other similar restaurants. The first two mouthfuls of the lamb dish I ordered were mostly fat which I didn't enjoy. Our meals seemed to take a long time to come out but that could have just been that we caught them off guard on a night that is not normally busy.
First time eating at this restaurant tonight. I had Butter Prawn and a Garlic Nann. Absolutely delicious. Lovely friendly staff.
Nice meal, bathroom areas need a scrub up and coat of paint, Attention needed to toilet rolls etc. Staff very attentive, kitchen could use a wipe down.
Amazing food, everything tasted fresh, service was great waiter was very polite and attentive.
Probably the best Indian food in wellington, only thing is the resturant could be tidyd up and plates better cleaned or renewed.
Not a bad curry have gone back there a few times as flavour is pretty good. Internals need to be decorated a little better. Also the decorative fish in the tank need a filter as they are swimming in cloudy water not a great look for a restaurant.
We live locally and have dined here 50+ times over the past 5-years, and have ordered several takeaways. The food is easily the best of any Indian restaurant in Wellington and is great value.
This is the best Indian food I know of in Wellington. It is fantastic. We live in Ngaio but will always make the trip out here to get our Indian takeaway.
I had a very nice goat curry and dhal. They added fresh chillies for me which was delicious, and they would be happy to cook a goat biryani which I'm looking forward to. I think perhaps they could have fresh white rice cooked for each meal session. It doesn't need to be microwaved.but very pleasant meal and experience.
Called up to order. Was told food would be ready in 25 minutes.
Food took 45 minutes and after raising the issue with them they gave is A small can of Sprite. To split between two people.
Don't think I'll be going back after that service
