I was mistreated, judged and misdiagnosed by a doctor at this practice, Dr Brandon Casserly. After 10 years of being mislead and ignored, I found a new GP and had my notes transferred. After having seen the horrid judgemental things he wrote and how he labeled me from day one, I was left in total shock. The worst part is that his blatant negligence in misdiagnosis and dismissal of my issues has left me fighting to keep my ability to walk, which SHOULD have been easily prevented. It was an easy single consultation diagnosis elsewhere after finally going to a new GP that actually cares.

Edit: Wow, their response tried to imply I was never a patient of theirs? That is just wrong in so many ways. No I do not use my real name on public forums such as this, not many folk do. It doesn't change anything that happened. I did not use their internal complaints system as I never wish to be ignored or dismissed like that again, the headaches wouldn't be worth it and frankly I was done with being mistreated. This review was the best thing I ever did, I stuck up for myself to hopefully help others. I wish they would learn from it instead of make excuses or dodge the issues.

It's alright I haven't seen my actual doctor in years. They over book themselves resulting in it being hard to get an actual booking when something is wrong. They're always late. Thankfully they have dropped their prices so it's more affordable than it has been. Community services cards are just worthless they won't give you anything for them. So if you can't afford the payment. Well do you really need both your legs? They add interest to their bills if you can't pay they increase the amount making it even harder. They are pretty nice and often do forgive the interest but with how extremely busy they are I'm not sure why they haven't lengthen their operating hours or opened another centre to refer the overload to.

This ended up more negative than I expected it to.

I've received nothing but care, compassion and understanding from this practice. They deal with people at their most unwell either mentally and physically. It's an intense, stressful role for the front facing reception & customer services team, in an extremely busy practice. And I am always grateful for the chat, or the help, or the laugh they still manage to rustle up. Now. My doctor. Dr Brandon Casserly. The guy is the most compassionate, patient, thorough and incredibly humane doctor you'll meet. His warmth and sense of humour are matched only by his incredible intelligence and his ability to assess a health problem swiftly and the multi faceted approach he takes to healing/tackling it. If you're looking for an ego here, best look elsewhere. If you're looking for someone with a heart of gold, and an extremely sharp brain, he's your man. Thank you very much from the bottom of my bottom, to each and every one of you.

THEY NEED A BETTER DOCTOR TOO ONE THAT ACTUALLY WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE INSTEAD OF BRUSHING US OFF TO KENEPERU A&E BECAUSE HE OR SHE DOESNT FEEL COMFORTABLE DISCUSSING OUR HEALTH OVER THE PHONE

If you are going to now start asking patients to wait outside until they get phone call to come in for their appointment, you are going to need to provide a better solution and keep to appointment times before winter sets in!

I was buzzed in I went to the front desk one lady was on the phone and the other just sitting there, after a minute I sat down. 45 minutes later I asked the lady at the reception if I had mixed the day up, she replied no you haven’t I’m sorry we’ve had a mix up, and sent me me through with a doctor I’ve never seen before.
I’ve been coming to this medical centre 20 years and it’s become more like a chop shop, very impersonal.

Friendly staff, normally you don't wait long to see your doctor. Due to COVID restrictions you can do a phone consultation, and get meds from chemist.

My doctor is great although I have never ever had an appointment on time here for all the years I’ve been with them.
They run at least 20 minutes late and that is on a good day. Usually it will be 30-45 minutes in my experience which I sit through anyway as getting an appointment takes weeks. I still arrive on time.

Today was especially frustrating as reception neglected to check me in despite asking for my appointment details as I arrived.
It took me a while to actually ask as I am used to waiting so long. An hour and a half waiting waiting for nothing.
If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.

I am very unhappy about the staff of Tawa medical centre, they are not responsive at all, After being visited by the GP, I've even contacted them 5 times to follow up my registration with ACC, but they haven't sorted it out yet (the form has not been sent yet!). It is almost 3 months!

Great doctors but every appointment I’ve had they’ve been running at least 15 mins late. Really hard when they don’t communicate that they’re running behind and don’t really care about patients time. Why do they do 15 min appointments when they always run over time?

What gets me with places and companies during this pandemic, (COVID-19). You have to wear masks all of a sudden at the clinic, but the staff behind the counter does not wear a mask. Yes there is a screen, but she does move away from the screen, walk around to get coffee. I did not know it is only the patients at the clinic that has the potential to carry the virus

I can no longer trust this centre with my health. They have given me false information leading to a delay in blood testing for what is apparently a serious condition.

Poor service from the accounts person. After going there for 30 years and generally paying my bill on time, there was one time when i forgot to pay and got a letter in the post stating they would refer it to the debt collectors. I also found the doctors lacking the required skill and did not listen enough.

Friendly staff and almost always running to schedule, good chalkboard play area for the kids in the waiting room.
