Thai Chef's Restaurant

One of the best Thai restaurants in New Zealand with its authentic Thai cuisine, amazing atmosphere and super friendly and professional staff. I have been to Thailand many times and I can easily tell that Thai Chef is fantastic.

Excellent Thai restaurant. Baked fish amazing.
They can make REAL THAI food, not Kiwi style, so you get real Thai flavours. Wine waiter very helpful too.

My wife and I were visiting from Napier and ate there last night…15 April. I ordered a chicken meal and my wife ordered Three Kings, ‘European medium’. It took 30 minutes even though the place was less than half full. My meal was too hot, as was my wife’s. My chicken was tough with hardly any veg. My wife’s meal had hardly any fish, almost no vegetables except uncooked onion or leeks, and was far too spicy. Bad experience all around.

Bad experience having food their. The lamb sizzler plate was not even 50% filled. There were only 5 to 6 slices of lamp with few onions here and there. When we asked about it there was no response from the staff. VERY BAD HOSPITALITY.

Went for a byo for a work do, was told on arrival not to drink from the bottle sarcastically by the waiter. A glass was accidentally broken and the waiter rudely said you need to clean that up yourself. Staff were arguing in front of guest about the ordeal. Really disappointed in the awful people skills displayed by their unprofessional staff. Staff also incorrectly advised 50 cents per container for takeaway and charged $1.50 instead. Meals were also incorrect. Won’t be going back, simply Incompetent.

Worst experience! Forgot my mask, the restaurant didn't have any spare mask and I was standing in the rain, the duty manager is hopeless. Very bad customer service, Definitely not Tai chef's anymore!

Not good experience, poor service by fat lady, small table for 4 people served by 2 plates only, later we asked for 2 more plates, stuffs spying from counter both of them.they lied telling table was reserved where we wanted to sit till the end no one came. I’ve not been to many Thai restaurants in Wellington but the food is just on a whole nother level, the portions are a bit small for the price but the food makes up for it, the food are also very flavourful

Terrible service. They give a large surcharge on dining on versus taking out which they did not tell us about - including charging for rice, extra 5$ on all meals, a takeaway container. When I got to the counter to suggest they overcharged me, they tell me only then that dining in costs more than taking out.

The best Thai in Wellington hands down.

You could work on your consistency a little more perhaps don't take on so many online orders if it hurts the experience of those earing in your restaurant they really should take priority.

That said we order from thai chefs once a week if we can and it's always, delicious. Keep up the amazing work chefs.

I went to Thai Chef's Wellington today around 7 pm with my wife. We ordered entrées and mains, got our entrées about 20 minutes after the arrival but we were waiting for mains until 8.30 pm. Girls serving at tables were not responding at all. At 8.30 pm I went to the front desk to ask about the mains. The front desk girl was so discourteous, answered to me acting like it's my fault. All the staff didn't show any good humour at all, did not know how to respond to customers politely. They haven't even started preparing my mains when I followed up at 8.30 pm so I cancelled it, paid only for entrées and left without having dinner.

I was utterly disappointed about Thai Chef's Wellington customer service and concluded that I never go back again to Thai Chef's Wellington. The staff should understand that your customers are not begging for food, we pay for your food, pay for your service.

Tasty meals n luvly to dine out wth friends; friendly staff; pleasant n very cultural decors n can be recommended n invites everyone to visit here @ oftentimes!

We are tourists search good Tai restaurant, that is why we were there, my meal was cold when he served, so i didn't enjoy it.a bit disappoint ~

Food and service was great.
The service turned badly when the owner Mina, came to the table and was rude, telling us we needed to leave, because the next party had arrived. The way she spoke to us and her tone was really inappropriate, we were paying guests (8) and I won't be going back in a hurry.

Even though it was extremely busy and they were severely understaffed the team was very pleasant and polite. The food was absolutely delicious.

The mixed entree was really good. Unfortunately my main was.not really hot when served and was too cool before I finished it. My main arrived several minutes before my husbands meal, had I waited till his meal arrived mine would have been cold. Drinks service was very slow.

Great meals on Saturday night! Unfortunate long delay of the main courses was made okay with a big apology from the staff and the kind offer of a $30 food voucher!

Food was great. Service was a bit patchy. Entrees were shared and didn’t come out together. We had to ask for the last one.
One main meal was incorrect and sent back.
Service cleared the table while the last diner was still eating, which I always think is a bit rude.

Delicious food! Beware there is a large menu that can overwhelm some. Plenty to choose for vegan and veggie alike and they are quite conscious of dietary requirements. Great price to food quantity/quality ratio. Totally recommend!
