Wah Loong Restaurant reviews
34Brought a pork fried rice no onion and literally got 6 tiny pieces of pork and a hand full of peas very disappointed! No veges not even carrots just peas. I live locally have tried several dishes from here which were the same over cooked chips, burnt donuts and a double meat and muchroom burger with 5 thinly sliced mushrooms and soggy brown lettuce that I took out! $29.90 this meal cost! WOW just wow
DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM THIS PLACE! It is disgusting. Spent $15 on takeaways and it was inedible. Threw it out. The sesame prawn toast was burnt to a crisp, other food wasn't cooked properly and other food was like eating into fatty slop. Stopped going here when the previous owner (Robert?) sold it because it was so bad, so first time back in years. Will never, ever set foot in this place again. Only went there because next door was closed. Should be minus stars.
Fried rice egg foo yoong was
Definitely be returning!
Has changed since my last visit chicken fried rice I'm not even sure if it was chicken, was dry as dry can be.my whole order did not seem as fresh
I have been coming here for 30 years. Food was always amazing EXCEPT the last couple of months you have changed your recipes and they are terrible. So sad when you had such a good trade.
I always asked the lady at the counter if you had swapped hands. She said no. Don’t change what isn’t broken. I’m sure you have lost multiple customers since you changed your recipes.
We have been customers of Wah Loong Restaurant for several years. Normally service is professional and friendly with a high quality of product. Today the staff were rude and the food was lacking. The pros should outweigh the cons but as of this review, we will be avoiding this store until after winter.
You get to know which take outs in the area has the best particular dish that suits your taste and i come here for mine when i am too tired to cook. Just ring and order. Time you get there its all ready.
All windows open. It was really windy & cold in the restaurant. The won tons were really hot but the rest wasn't. I'm sure it was because the windows were all open so the food got cold quickly. It was delicious.
Great place. Friendly and on to it service - nothing's a problem. 9 people catered for efficiently. Huge menu, nicely cooked. Large servings - doggy bags provided at the end.
Thank you.
We will be back.
Ever since the long term owner sold Wah Loong it has gone downhill. New owner trying to cut costs. An over priced to tiny dry piece of fish drowning in a huge amount of batter. Better to go to the takeaway next door - Avalon Fish & Chip shop.
Nice and cosy place they do try and be nice and the food I think is reasonable not great but nice for a nice diner outing!
Food portion was great. Service was ok giving there was only 2 of them. Food was tasty and quick, typical takeaway style. However, roast duck was special and the sizzling venison was really tender and tasty. Didn't get a chance to try their chef recommendation - taro duck. (forgot the name) - you have to pre-order this dish.
The wontons were amazing. Really delicious. Had orange beef, sweet and sour pork, steak fried rice and combination chop suey.
The fried rice was a little bland but the others were nice. Huge portions.
Reasonable good taste (crispy chicken, dumplings, fried rice, bami-goreng). Reasonable prices. Large portions! Quick and friendly service.
Go for the banquet! Lovely food with so many choices and plenty to share. Waiter is a great people person and sure knows her stuff.
They do great takeaways for Chinese food and normal takeaways i have always like there food and is cooked well with great variety. The staff are friendly and very welcoming they also sell some china wares like plates and cups which is very cool.
An awesome restaurant that masters the Chinese cuisine and is simply amazing sometime it lacks some customer service aspects like asking if us as customers want more drinks but apart from that it is an amazing and beautiful restaurant
Cheap and cheerful. More food than you can eat. A small place, but very pleasant service. We come here with a group of around 20 and fit on two of thier large round tables.
Went for a birthday yesterday and was very impressed. The food was great, company even better. And the duty manager was incredibly good! Dealt with us well!
This is the best Chinese take out and restaurant in the Hutt region. I've been coming here for over 30yrs and never disappointed. My favorite is the orange chicken, pan fried chicken noodle, pork or chicken fried rice, steamed dim sims.
Value for money and delicious! Awesome Chinese food in NZ!
We ordered their food for 2 nights straight! The highlight was that my wife, toddlers and I loved their steak fried rice and we chowed it down to the last grain!
We ordered steak fried rice, wanton soup and pork cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables on the first night. As it was our first time ordering, I didn't realize how big the portion was until the staff handed me a box of food! We ate what we could and kept some for picnic the next day!
The seasonal vegetables were cooked till tender and it was easy for my toddlers to munch! The steak fried rice was fragrant and flavourful and the steak was so tender! We ordered the steak fried rice and chicken cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables the next day. The chicken was also very tender and easy on the bite.
Thanks to their food that I had fuss free meals for 2 days as my toddlers loved the food and had nothing to pick on!
We'll definitely be back should we pass by Lower Hutt again!
