Waikanae Health Centre

I called in today with a medical issue and the receptionist was so very helpful and managed to get me an appt with Dr Jesse, who saw me this afternoon. I was in a great deal of pain and I truly appreciate the clinic's quick and efficient response to my issue. Thank you to the staff involved, and as usual I have nothing but good things to say about your practice. Thanks, guys!

Won't help anyone who isn't a patient denied health care and the receptionist was not helpful at all next time you guys strike for pay I'm ignoring it

I really just want to say I know Drs aren’t finding their profession easy…. I don’t know the ‘for why’s. But it’s no excuse to ignore the urgent needs of people…. Stories I’m hearing of. I left because my excellent Dr left the practice and the reception (first port of call) is not welcoming at all. I’m not a high user and have never felt this way about any of the medical places I’ve been enrolled with over nearly 70 years.

Visited the ear clinic, lovely nurses took good care of me, and Igotmy hearing back in my left ear.

We have had a positive experience with Waikanae Health Centre over the past eight years. Our GP, Mark, is always kind and very thorough with our family's health care. Responses from staff have been mostly quick, polite and helpful.
The only issue I ever had was with the online booking system being 3 weeks or more out, but this was more of a misunderstanding of the system (if you want a quick visit, you need to call for assessment first). This could be more explicit so I complained about this, and their response was understanding, polite and professional.

Poor GP service. Appointments are really hard to make, especially with own doctor. No follow up from service when you are I’ll.
Website gives a complaint process but they refuse to get back to you with any answers. Suggest looking at other options in the area. Emails are ignored.

I am so angry about the reply. This review is not vitriolic it is based on fact. I have tried to engage with your complaints process but you have refused to answer phone calls or emails.
You do refuse to engage in opportunities to develop processes and procedures regarding the practice. I live in the same area and now have a GP who is able to offer appointments within 48 hours instead of the 3 weeks that you are currently offering. That is not a primary health service, that’s a free for all.
Your replies to poor reviews are to blame the reviewer instead of owning the problems that your surgery obviously has. People are offering their honest opinions, you are then blaming them for having these views. Not cool WHC

Always look after my children so well, no one in our family has needed to go to the hospital because they always see us promptly when needed, or even just to reassure. Someone always calls back and emails are always answered. Drs are always really thorough even when running behind.

Friendly staff but overall the whole place is pretty useless. Constant delays in processing and is getting worse over time. Would recommend trying a different practice.
EDIT: I did talk to your staff and got treated terribly. I also had my private information shown to someone who wasn't me, so immediately left. There was no attempt to contact me after since you guys didn't actually update my contact details when they changed.

Let's get this straight: For many years I've been visiting the Waikanae Health Centre and every time it's been an excellent experience in every aspect! I'm overseas often, back in Europe where we came from, using medical support there too, hence I can compare and the Waikanae Health Centre is just perfect in how they deal with patients and their competence levels! So a big 'Thank you' for providing us with fine health care!

FANTASTIC! CARING QUICK EFFICIENT PROFESSIONAL! Turned up at opening time, no appointment, not my regular doc & was seen within 10mins. Had verry helpful staff wheelchair me inside & from xray to chemist opposite each side of the building. Brilliant from reception to nurses to doctors. Knowledgeable with meds Im allergic to, Helpful with brace to crutches. Verry understanding of accidents dont always happen to fall on paydays. Only 2 wait times were my own choice; to wait til xray next door opened, rather than drive next town over & try hop more & also to have extra pain relief & wait another 20mins (that they kept to by my watch) before attempting the ankle brace. Good cost for a working solo mum. After hours verry good advice on swelling & apmt next day. Again I say CARING QUICK EFFICIENT PROFESSIONAL. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Very inconvenient never open on time been going here for years because I live in the area they sent my account to debt collection agency very disappointed

Changed my review after very poor service. I believed that this health centre was actually here to serve the community which it is in. In actual fact it is just another private business seeking to milk it's 'customers' of as much money as they can. Not all the doctors are like that but the business is run to make extreme profit.

Been here many times during my life, great tidy place with a kids little play area. Staff are friendly and professional at all times.

Very helpful staff who are always willing to offer assistance when needed. Waiting areas are always spotlessly clean and tidy. Waikanae Health Centre is reassuringly calm and professional.
