CityLife Auckland reviews
68Located in the heart of Auckland CBD, this is as close as you could get to the hustle and bustle. The very attractive room rates are also a tribute to the Tang family's charitable and generous spirit of giving. The hotel is overall, well maintained, and the rooms are clean and in good condition. Corridors are neat and tidy. Followers of Jesus Christ be aware that this is a Christian owned enterprise, and in some ways, a house of God. The late Mr Tang Wee Cheng will always be remembered by Newton Life Church members. Praise the Lord.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. The pool is salt water says it's heated, but it's not a hot pool gym is well equipped and clean
This used to be our regular place to stay when coming to Auckland. Sadly ive watched Citylife get worse and worse over the past 2 decades. Now we no longer stay there. It used to be a great place. What happened?
Best location! Clean and well equipped.
The very friendly and at your service within seconds staff of City Life Auckland hotel made my stay very comfortable and pleasant.
I was there to recuperate, and it was worth it.
You do not need a car if staying at this hotel. It’s central location is a winner and only minutes walk to all shops, cafes, restaurants and services.
The kitchen was fully equipped and very clean.
Best hotel apartment in Auckland City.
I’ll be back soon.
We managed to book a room with a perfect view of the sky tower for new years fireworks display. Though the price was expensive for a night, it was all worth it. It was a lovely experience. The service we had from the reception staff was great. Clean rooms and spacious. Some issues in our room though, hence the 4stars. First the sink in one of the bathrooms was clogged and their centralised air conditioning was below par to say the least especially during summer.
Good hotel right in the center. Many shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Very clean room, nice hotel with pool and gym.
We would love to come back.
Damage deposit policy turned me away from this place. Not only you lose about 10% of the deposit due to double international transaction and Visa fees, but in general you are treated as a potential criminal when asked to pay the damage deposit upon arrival.
Staying in a Airbnb and though not what I expected we are making the most out of our time here in Auckland.
Awesome executive one bedroom. We were on floor 23, and had great city views from a clean, fresh apartment. Very nice spot to unwind after busy days exploring the city.
Great friendly and fast service, clean rooms, stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, will definitely be back! Asked for late checkout with no issue or extra charge.thank you!
Exceptional stay! I'd like to commend the handsome Indian gentleman at the front desk for making our trip such a good one. Extra key cards without asking which is awesome when you're in a group! He switched out our room when we booked the wrong one, and the room we got was fantastic. Really good to have something like that happen on your first stay. Will definitely be back! Would have absolutely given him a tip but I lost my wallet lol!
Generally disappointing and not recommended. Due to a lack of staff the hotel is currently unable to service/ clean your room daily. However it is able to still charge you full price for a substandard service!
The hotel cafe is also closed "until further notice" meaning the only room service available is from a local takeaway with hiked up prices compared with ordering directly from the restaurant along with an additional $5 added to each order. Definitely not a 4 star hotel at present. Pretty embarrassing actually.
If I had been aware of the lack of room cleaning and room service options I would have spent my $300/night elsewhere. The room was adequate and the bathroom actually very modern. Gym and pool again were adequate.
We stayed here at the beginning and end of our North Island holiday. Was a very nice and neat hotel. The rooms were just right, and all the amenities were there including washing machine and dryer. It's also nicely placed in the centre of town, so was easy to get around. Parking is an issue, so take that into consideration.
We were a bit disappointed to be honest. It is a four star hotel that doesn’t have a bar or restaurant and the only roo. Service is a local Chinese restaurant from 5 til around 9 pm. When we checked in the reception staff apologised that our room would not be serviced and we were staying for too nights. But if we wanted anything to call and they would bring fresh linen etc.very poor when they still charged us the full rate. The staff were lovely and we couldn’t fault them but the owners need to sort out the restaurant etc as you cannot claim a 4 star hotel that provides 2 star service. A very big let down to be honest.
Excellent value for money! Fantastic location, central Auckland is so accessible by foot. Friendly service. The rooms are amazing - clean, spacious and comfortable. Not too noisy either. Would definitely stay again!
Central location. Clean, tidy.
Large rooms. Great responsive staff.
Highly recommended.
Rooms have been updated but appliances not. Fridge light wasn’t working so it was a black hole in the wall, microwave didn’t work and that really threw the front desk staff to resolve it. Dishwasher kept constantly beeping and so had to switch it off every time I used it. Minimal room servicing due to covid so having to call for toilet paper and body wash. Meh.
We booked this place as it had a restaurant and valet parking and is close to the hospital. We arrived to find out the restaurant was no longer open. We then had to go walking round the cbd at night to find some dinner which was quite scary. Don't think we will stay again. The rooms and the staff were fantastic
Thought we would have a change of hotel and were happily surprised at City Life. We had a two bedroom apartment. It was spacious with an ajoining room with extra bathroom. All four of us were impressed in the size and will now make this our go to hotel for the city in future. Valet parking means you can just pull up to the front door. Excellent.
Great hotel with lovely staff who provided a great service. Pool is really nice, a perfect temperature
