Columbia Apartments

Very tiny rooms with very basic facility. Very dated and I was not impressed with the hygiene and maintenance.

We booked 2 rooms and we were placed in a 3 bedroom apartment and our rooms separated by another bedroom.

$200 security deposit

Good view.
Cooktop with only one burner, small fridge, bathroom and toilet separated room, cheap price.
Be prepared to hear the fire alarm and go out of the building at least 3 times week and to see the police like if you were in the jail.

This may be a cheap apartment, that is also student accommodation, but the place needs an overhaul. Floor carpet in the corridors are disgusting. The photos on the website don't represent the true nature of the place.
The lobby floor and lift floor needed a jolly good mop. It wasnt just normal footprints bring trampled in, the dirt here is long settles into the corners.
The only reason i didnt give this a 1 star was because the bed was clean and comfy and the room reasonably clean. But i didnt use the kitchenette in the shared corridor as it was run down and old, and the only good thing about the shower was that the curtain had been replaced and was clean and dry, the 2nd day i was there a bath mat had been hung up to use which was clean and dry.
ALSO be aware that they ask for a $200 deposit that is refundable upon checkout. This is not mentioned in any booking info that i was sent and i was left very short on money on my trip because i HAD to pay it to stay there. I didnt have any money spare to cancel my booking and stay somewhere else at a higher price. It was inconvenient to be left with hardly any money even though i knew it would be refunded upon checkout.
I wouldn't recommend being around the street outside the Apartments at night either, on your own. There were people shouting and swearing in the street one night.

Cheap at $50/night, but no WiFi, not very nice bathrooms (shared), everything was old and run down, and the room was very small and not very nice either. The whole place felt dodgy, even the street it is on. Positives were a window you could open for fresh air and clean (looking) sheets. Wouldn't stay here again.
Pictures look nothing like the reality.

Make sure you lock your door this place is full of dangerous people and crack heads. Someone tried opening our door at night. Loud banging and random screams heard at all hours of the night.

I viewed the property, only to find out miniscule cooking area and window.

Living area was dirty, air was stagnant and unclean.

I do not think I will enjoy the stay at all, therefore will leave in the near future.

A very family orientated area and establishment. Cheap and accomodating if you are in need. Polite workers also.

This place was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed at. The customer service was poor and the room was still messy from the previous guest before us! There was used kitchen utensils, bed and linen was still messy, dirty laundry on furniture, and there was no soap and tea as advertised on Bookme.com. We got a refund and luckily got into an accommodation at 11pm at night. Also as in addition we had to pay $30 for a Wilson over night carpark that we didn't use. Columbia Apartments overall get no stars for this review as we didn't even get to stay there. This was a horrible experience and hope they seriously improve for their guests in the future!

Bug infested, absolutely disgusting place. They don't even vaccuum the floors after another guest leaves as the floor was filthy. The room stench was unbearable and they don't even provide WiFi. Never recommend.

I am giving this a 2 instead of a 1 because Oscar was very helpful with my rebooking because of a covid lockdown. But really this place is not good for travellers. The police were there when I left and my Uber driver told me they are often there. I didn’t really feel safe as I was on the 8th floor and was worried that one of their strange residents would set fire to the place and I didn’t know how I would get out! They insist on a $200 deposit even though I had already paid for my accomodation but to be fair Oscar has advised me he has refunded it. Although I booked a room with private bathroom I seemed to be in a group of three rooms that shared the toilet and shower. Maybe no one else was in the other 2 rooms. The lift is filthy but the room was tiny but cleanish. The sheets were clean. I was glad to leave.

My son stayed here.he brought his daughter here for a holiday. Good things: the manager let him stay even though he didn't have his ID with him (he had left it at home!), the place is close to the main shopping area of Auckland. Not so good: cockroaches in the room, aggressive, rude people staying/living there who were rude and racist toward my son and his friends. However, a complaint was laid to management about the cockroaches, because they were the main concern, and a full refund was given to my son and that is another good thing about Columbia Apartments. The reason I have given 3 stars is for each of the good things about this place. Hopefully, they will make sure it's cleaned properly for future guests and make sure the people who stay there are civilised.

Refugee camp status. Somebody call the United nations. Dirty room, unmade bed and people unlocking doors and entering room while I was asleep

Used to be ok but now full of people who scream and fight at ALL hours of the day. It's the middle of the city so you don't expect absolute quiet, but when these people start screaming at the top of their voices in the early hours of the morning, or decide to party until the small hours ON A WEEK NIGHT, it is well out of order. The building owners need to sort this out, quickly.

Not a bad place to stay at for a while. But atm lift is on repair from 8th till 12th and I live on the 18th floor, haha. Blyat'! ~@-@~ Expansive internet. $20 for 10gb for 7 days, then expires and has to be renewed. Rooms clean and nice.

Awesome staff, take care of their guests well. Apartments are worth what you pay for it, bit shabby otherwise great stay here at columbia.

Very much for students, handy to University, little shop at the bottom. Longer term rentals most suitable.

Manager is a very respectful kind and understanding person. My studio apartment is great the shower are amazing the view is beautiful and clean. Also very affordable. Would stay again

The photos of the place are from very long ago, the hotel is very badly maintained and the room is all rusty and dirty, very different from what you see in pictures.

Good for the price it's more like student accommodation. No free Wi-Fi either which isn't ideal. The kitchen was very small and cramped too!

Cheap housing at a prime location! The only drawback is no pets and no smoking, otherwise this place is best for students! Mr. Steven Zhang is the official atcthe reception who is very helpful and good to talk to. Over-all it's a nice place for international students and rather anyone looking for affordable housing at the city centre!
