Slightly disappointed with the taste and presentation, which is by far not Japanese influence, rather Korean. The interpretation of Japanese into a modern fusion genre is twisted towards a disappointment. It is less recommended to take one's valueable Japanese clients to this restaurant, as it will show one's lack of knowledge of Japanese culture and tradition, which is not a desired outcome that one will wish for. However, it is a clean environment and rather easily accessible by vehicles.

It was a good experience. Alittle expensive and if it's busy, the crews walk around too much. Except that two, made my dinner awesome. Wine and cocktails around 15-18, even they dont have many options which familiar, but was great. The fish fresh, fried not too oily, dessert was sweet enough. Highly recommended when it's not busy.

Had the restaurant month deal. Was really good to get a feel of Ebisu. Tasted great and beautiful presentation. Service felt a little rushed at times but very attentive

Excellent tapas style restaurant. Top service. We had set dinner with a varied group of dishes all of which were beautiful. Seafood chicken beef pork and vegetables. Recommended.

Have been here a few times now. The most recent time was for Auckland restaurant month. The food was very good and well presented, but not amazing. The meal was designed to be shared but we had a group of 7 which made things a bit awkward, and at times we felt like we were sharing food for a group of 6 (e.g. A few courses came out in either 2 or 3 dishes, so occasionally one person got a bit short changed). Ebisu were also unable to cater to one of our groups dietary requirements, so she had to miss out on a course. The highlight of the meal was definitely the dessert which thankfully came out as individuals serves. I would recommend ordering a la carte instead of the set menus.

That particular night Ebisu also seemed to be short on a number of their wine options. After we were told our first few choices were not available, some of te girls gave up and ordered non alcoholic drinks.

The service was a bit hit and miss I.e. Sporadic and at times unhelpful and overbearing, at other times completely absent (became an effort to flag down waiters or get drink top ups). However I did appreciate that it was a full house on a week night. Not sure it that explained the strange temperature situation though which swung from uncomfortably warm to rather chilly (made me wish I hadn't given my coat to the waiter to out away!).

All and all, some redeeming features (food presentation and ambience). But service could be brushed up, wine in stock, and portion sizes for odd numbered groups sorted out!

The food here is so good. I almost had an out of body experience when I ate my meal. However the service let my experience down. It was impersonal and careless. My waiter was rude and rushed me in and out so quickly. It let the overall experience down.

Last night was not a good night for Ebisu. Table for 4 degustation menus all around, 1 celiac in the group. Wait staff had to constantly check with kitchen throughout dinner, service was extremely slow and ineffective. Two bottles of wines we requested were sold out but we were initially charged for these anyway. This was later corrected but good thing we checked! Food was good but was not in line with expectations from price. You can do better guys!

Nice environment, food tasted great (Ceviche Tuna Sushi + Chicken Karaage in particular) and service was pleasant enough.however I felt the waiter should have informed us that the Miso Glazed Tooth Fish was not a share plate but just a taster (it was half the size of a chocolate brownie)
So, good if you like to appreciate nice surroundings but not if you're a big eater or hungry.

We have three people, been offered a very small table which should be occupied by 2. Refused to change table for us. We ordered a set dinner. No space for food at all.

I expected so much from this place. I love Japanese food and we were told this place was fantastic. The restaurant is cool and the atmosphere is very nice. Unfortunately, service was poor, with untrained waiters. The tuna sashimi and nigiri tasted of nothing. I think this is just a posh place.

Taste 3/5 good food but not great. Flavour wasn’t quite there, had to wait 20-30 between dishes think they have forgotten our food
Service 2/5 service let the whole experience down, staff weren’t interested, had to keep asking for things twice, water had to be reminded.
Atmosphere 3/5 don’t know what say the vibe of the place was good but the staff not so much

Just for the dining experience. We had a banquet meal with 20 people and we have plenty of food. A great range of food with exquisite flavours and taste some of the best beef I have had. Fantastic presentation an excellent service in a great location I'll definitely come here again many times.

The experience at Ebisu was a culinary delight. Presentation perfection. Flavour satisfaction. And excellent attentive service. We went as a group from work and the staff looked after us well.

Not if you are hungry. Food is well presented and full of flavour. But it is more about presentation and price

Really great food. But the worse service. Not interested if you’re not an Auckland local and go every night. I would try ostro instead.

The food was tasty however the wait staff could do with some training. We ordered a set menu with paired Sake and the waitress forgot the sake then told us it was our fault. I am unsure if she smiled at all the entire night. Waiting staff are the face of a restaurant business and i just felt they let the otherwise lovely fit out and food down a bit.
