Onehunga Carpets and Rugs

Onehunga Carpets and Rugs are not trustworthy in my experience in dealing with them. Lied about quoting for only one lounge room when in fact they measured two lounges. I suspected they over quoted on the stairs labour only, so I told them I didn't want the stairs done, just the two lounges to be carpeted. It took several amended quotes to get the correct amended price bc they keep getting it wrong when all it needed was removal of the labour only cost for the stairs. When they finally got it right, I accepted the quote and agreed to paying the deposit once we came out of the lock down. Came post L4 lock down, they started to renag and play around with the quote i.e. They quoted for one lounge only, they wouldn't have enough carpet to cover both lounges bc of the stairs. I said the quote never included carpet for the stairs in the first place. If I had gone ahead with the stairs, the layers would be using the old carpet from one of the lounges. They offered to do the stairs for $100 less than the initial quoted amount. I declined. Then they said I was being rude, when instead I was being forthright and firm to get to the real truth of the quoting issue as they were jumping around with excuses not to honour the quote. We settled things and agreed to a date to lay the carpet. I said I would put in the 50% deposit. I sent them an email asking them to confirm the name of the carpet, the total length of the carpet and the thickness of the carpet as this was missing on the quote and on receiving this info I would make the deposit. To me this was important so I know that the carpet I saw in their shop is the same carpet name that's being laid. I NEVER GOT A REPLY BACK AND THE LAYERS DIDN'T TURN UP. BEWARE OF INFLATED QUOTES, PLAYING AROUND WITH THE FIGURES TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU, EVEN TO THE POINT OF LYING TO THE CUSTOMER ABOUT WHAT WAS AGREED TO, PURPOSELY OMITTING PRODUCT DETAIL IN QUOTES SO YOU COULD END UP WITH A CARPET YOU DIDN'T CHOOSE, NOT HONORING ON THEIR QUOTES, AND BLATANT PRICE GOUGING!

Love our carpet, but didn't have the best experience with Onehunga Carpets.

Consultant only measured two of our three bedrooms, despite me telling them (and the in-store consultant) that we wanted all three bedrooms carpeted. Quote came through at a similar price to estimates we were given in store so we accepted. Quote was only for the two bedrooms however (we didn't pick up on this mistake when accepting the quote).

Mistake was picked up by our installer who ran out of carpet to install. After being sent an additional quote for the third room, we then had to wait a few days for the third room to be carpeted.

No ownership of the mistake from Onehunga Carpets. Acted like they were doing us a favour by not charging us a second call-out fee when completing the third room.

Amazing helpful friendly staff. Very knowledgeable and showed us a large range of carpet within our budget. Highly recommended

Highly recommend this place. We had a large rug made from premium textured wool carpet (2nds) which make a perfect rug.
Can't figure out why the carpet is even seconds because there's no faults.and the price and finished product is amazing.

Similar textured rugs from rug stores were in the thousands.

Such a great job! The carpet looks amazing, communication from the entire team was professional, friendly and accommodating. There is a wide range of carpet to select from and we were able to take away as many samples as we liked before deciding. The carpet layer was super efficient and did an amazing job. We are so happy with the end result, highly recommend Onehunga Carpets and Rugs to everyone!

I have used these guys at both my hostel and my home. They are efficient, organised and well priced. When there was a problem they totally went the full yard to sort it out. They also arrange for rugs to be made from offcuts. This is a great business that I will use again and definitely recommend.

Really busy place - came in on Saturday morning to look at some rugs. Saw the huge amount of carpet samples on display. Staff were all busy and carpark was full.

Friendly, professional and helpful service. Office lady carefully calculated the correct amount of carpet we'll need with minimal wastage and cost effective. Much appreciated.
