Soljans Estate Winery reviews
74Wow what an amazing place! From our wine tasting to begin with to the amazing food to end. They had a sign out front apologising that service may be slow due to staff having to isolate but this was anything but the case, the staff were absolutely wonderful and there was no delay whatsoever. Highly recommend!
It wasnt as good as before. Portion is smaller now. 2 pieces of Garlic bread cost $9. However, the wine is still superb.
Came here for Easter Sunday lunch with my partner and parents. The day didn't start well with the waiter spilling grape juice on my white shirt. They were very apologetic about it - and to be fair, they did have a trainee badge on. No big deal.
The real problem was the food. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the Croatian sausages. Pretty disappointed all around. For a start, they are not sausages. (Croatian or otherwise) They are ground up lamb and pork mince in what was more like Kofta.
My partner is actually from that part of Europe and she was most disappointed of all so it wasn't just a couple of silly kiwis confused about what sausages were in different parts of the world.
The eye fillet steak which the fourth member of our group ordered was good. We were all a bit jealous after recieving mash potatoes and mince instead of sausages.
To top it off, right after finishing it was apparent that the mince "sausages" did not agree with me. Not a great lunch at all sadly. They definitely should not be calling these things Croatian sausages when they are nothing of the sort. Very misleading.
My partner did mention this to the lady at the entrance, saying she is from that part of Europe and these are not sausages, but they dismissed her, insisting that they are hand made sausages.
Would not go back.
Service was slow when we came in for a wine tasting today. Place appeared to be understaffed so that seems to explain it except after the big crowds had dispersed we were still kept waiting when we wanted to buy a couple of bottles after the wine tasting was over. There was no reasonable explanation for this and my perception was the lady was actually surprised that we wanted to buy their bottles.
Valentines Day at Soljan’s is officially an annual tradition. Highly recommend the wine pairings.
Staff were friendly, relaxing environment. We ordered a mix of the small and large plates, all were good to great in taste. Proportion were all reasonable.
Nice vineyard with lots of spread out seating and a small grassy patch with petanque and a small house for kids. The wine range is great and you can pay 15$ to try three from their menu. They come with a little card so you can take your time and taste and relax
Friendly, efficient staff. Especially enjoyed the Pork Belly with perfect crackling. Duck Breast not quite what I thought it would be, but still tasty and nicely presented.
Very nice surroundings and perfect for a relaxing afternoon ic you want to incorporate some wine tasting.
A brilliant place for a social gathering. The food fantastic, staff friendly and efficient.
Well worth visiting g for wine sampling g followed by a meal in the Bistro or vice versa.
Seriously recommend. Staff amazing, there's a new menu and chef and no one had any complaints. Will definitely be going back. Also the best garlic bread I have ever had
We got married here when it first opened. They looked after us then. We go back at least once every year and always on our anniversary. Brilliant setting, food and staff.
Really nice. Food is tasty, wine is amazing, got really sweet memory with my friend today on the last day of my twenties️?
The crew at Soljans have been awesome during our lockdowns, living up to the high standards they set in BAU.
The 5th Generation Chardonnay is a real winner, and will cellar nicely. The Reserve range is drinking very nicely, and their Estate range are great every day wines.
It’s really easy to highly recommend this family owned vineyard and talented winemaker.
Very disappointed with lunch. Menu changed alot which was explained by the young male waiter and the Manager that they had lost their chef. Only two choices for starters and the arancini balls had mushroom in them which the waiter did not know when asked. One of our group does not eat mushrooms. Perhaps more training needed. The waiters seemed inexperienced. The Pork Belly was sitting on 5 small half slices of carrot parsnip and Kumera. Not much on the dish. The fish and chips looked great. The deconstructed vegetable lasagne was just a pasta but tasted nice.
I hope this place gets organized and back to its usual standard.
Had a great afternoon with a travel group. Intro talk about the vineyard and family history, wine tasting, then a lunch. Well organised plenty of salads and two meats.
I had a lovely time there. The wine was delicious, as well as the food, and the staff where absolutely lovely! Will definitely go back again.
Awesome experience. We've arrived in a group of 40+ and they can accommodate any size, small or large.
Had one of the best eggs bennidict in town! Great place and awesome manager. Was so friendly and acted as our own personal photographer.
We have enjoyed Soljans Cafe on many occasions over the years but were disappointed with our latest dining experience. It was a busy weekend but the service was slow, the venue very noisy and most disappointing was our meals, which were pretty average. We were placed outside in the cold next to a large group and felt a bit neglected.
