What a surprise find! Don't just drive by worth a stop. Food surprising good, great music, not too loud to have a conversation. Starters larger enough for lunch. Lovely Indian waited remembers us from previous week

Lovely atmosphere and live music, the kai was yummy but a bit expensive for what you get overall very good

Drinks here were great and quick to arrive, but food seemed a bit hit-or-miss, especially for the prices. That is, when we eventually got the food. This place often has great, fun events, so I will be returning at some point. Last night was probably just a bad night to visit.

We hade 3 drinks each cocktails were good, prawn and pork roll was absolutely delicious! Steak meal was good but not for $50 side was chips and bok choy not really what I would expect on a steak meal, didn’t apply my joypab code when they said they had, unsure where we were supposed to wait as no one came to where the waiting area was so had to go up to the bar. But servers were awesome!

I visited The Flying Moa on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with friends. I did not realise there was a boxing match being shown there which meant it was bustling! We ordered lunch, I ordered a lovely scotch filled steak. Which tasted amazing and to my surprise did not take long for them to take our order and have the food on our table. Due to the large amounts of people there I thought I was going to be slow. So I do recommend eating there lovely pub food, great price and great atmosphere just for a nice chilled drink. Would highly recommend. Look forward to seeing it open again

Hi all. My family and I visited the Flying Moa pub several weeks ago. I had a family member up from the south island and she actually picked this place out, just from the online menu, and relative proximity. When we arrived we were greeted by two great staff members, asked straight away for our drinks order. They arrived promptly, and food orders were taken. The food was exceptional and more than fair in terms of size, more importantly the quality was fantastic. I would recommend this place easily for a meal and a cold one. I would also like to give a shout out to the staff, as I have visited several times since and they are top drawer people.

I went to The Flying Moa. The staff were fun and nice to me. It was warm and sunny on the deck. I had the spicy chicken wings. I like the spicy chicken wings. I just want to slather myself in the spicy sauce and clean myself like my cat charlie.

Food and Service were great. We found the environment noisey which was fine for a group of us. Def not a romantic date environment.

Waited for 20mins just to get our starter which was the garlic loaf that had came out cold and had too much margarine on the slices. DID NOT TASTE FRESH. I was disappointed because it was my favourite starter and would always have it whenever we came to fying moa.

Food looked like decent portions, however the poutine would've been salty enough with just the bacon.
Also a group of us came at 5.45ish on the Tuesday and while we knew there was pub quiz that night, it wasn't until 7.30 and we would have been long gone by then if we were allowed to sit inside from the start. No, we didn't make a booking, but at the same time we saw a lot of empty seats inside. We were going to stay and give it a go (that was when we found out pub quiz was at 7.30) but by that time we were all knackered.

Everything was fine, the only thing I think that needs to be overlooked is the fact that there is a dog roaming around freely, no leash or anything. Although the dog was well behaved I think youse need to consider that there are customers with fears and allergies, also to have an animal around food is unsanitary.

Food and atmosphere was great. Asked for a rare steak and gor a rare steak! Very few restaurants ever get my steak perfect. Will be going back.

Horrible food and service.ordered the ragu meat was cheap cut offs and the pasta was dry and uncooked.

I come from Whangarei small city & hoped to have a great dining experience.

Wasn't a pleasant greeting.

My chicken fettuccine was flavorless, dry azzzz & the only good thing was it was a good portion. I took it home & fried it up with some cream and flavoring. They had no straws and when I ordered a hot choc to go I got given a straw in my hot chocolate cos they said they run out of tops for the coffees etc.

I'd never come back and never reccomend the place. The only thing I could say is the restaurant itself is very lovely looking. Thanks

We had the lamb shank with mash as well as the chicken schnitzel burger (with lettuce wrap instead of the bun) and fries.

I also had a caramilk hard shake which didn't seem particularly alcoholic.

Food was excellent, tender and well presented. Probably my biggest criticism was that the meal was a bit on the expensive side.

In summary, loved the food as well as the service and surroundings. However a good night out could have been a great night out if they reigned in the price a bit.

Understand that this place serves pub meal but very under whelming. Chef licking fingers during food prep was disturbing.

Im literally in the restaurant now, told the waiter and staff food was not great. I ordered green coconut curry and could not taste any coconut or creaminess in my curry. It was sour and not satisfying. My naan bread was still doughy.

Staff was good though, drinks yummy but other then that not worth coming here.

No flavor no nothing.

Also fish and chips, i asked if it was battered however no its grilled, no flavor and shoe string fries taste old.

Please change chef or menu.
