Great steak meal, nice friendly environment. Private dining. Excellent place for group parties.

Growing up my family would always go to Lord Nelson’s for birthdays, which means I’ve been going to this restaurant literally for decades. It looks pretty much identical to how I remember it when I was a child - but that’s partly why I love coming back here.
The food is delicious. Sometimes you don’t want fancy restaurant food, you want delicious pub food, and this would be the best place to go. This time I had the Camembert to start which I actually get every time because I think it’s so good & Shaslick marinara: steak with bacon wrapped scallops and prawns. The steak was cooked perfectly and the seafood was juicy and delicious. My partner had the Angus fillet with horseradish cream and he loved it. The vegetables and potato croquet on the side were so good I’m still thinking about them now. This isn’t the sort of place where you get a small fancy portion of food with a weird sauce. It’s one of the only restaurants around that serves really good meals, not too expensive, with a cool 80’s vibe.

I was very hesitant about going just because I'm use to Tony's steak house but. I absolutely loved it! I love my steak medium rare they did great, perfectly seasoned and I asked for pepper sauce and ended up ordering g another one it's delicious! Croquettes were beautiful, crunchy outside nice and soft on the inside. Tiramisu excellent! Would go again.

The manager was amazing. The place is beautiful. Take u way back to 1830s the history al told to u while u are there. The food was made with love will refer this place to family and frends best steak by far

I have been a customer here for many years and I can assure people that this is an excellent venue and is definitely value in more ways than one.

The jazz band was wonderful but the food was poor quality for the price. The setting is nice but it hasn't been updated. If you are coming for the jazz, I'd eat elsewhere.

Edit: the owner clearly doesnt appreciate constructive feedback. Maybe that's why the place was near empty on a Friday night.

My steak was tender and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is a wonderful piece of history for me. Love it.

Really disappointed after reading reviews had a high expectation of a good feed. Both my starter and main were only just warm, when asked how it was I commented on food temperature and the waiter said he’d talk to the chef. He never returned, didn’t offer to heat it up, nor apologise. When we came to pay I asked him and he said the chef said it was hot! Unbelievable. Am not recommending this establishment to anyone, and so disappointed in the poor overall service. Btw The chowder tasted good but luke warm.

I have the amazing things to say and share.
The service. Dan (owner) was there and greeted us as we waltzed in at 7 30pm.
The beautiful smiling Tony's team made us so welcomed and warmed us with Brilliant service and the FOOD?
NO POINT having a fancy restaurant if the food is not good!
I ordered the sizzling plate of steak.medium cooked, mushrooms, tomatoes and side of steamed vegetables. I think I could have sold my sizzling platter to the others at the table! It was so good.
Great food, great company (Thanks Boss David, for picking up the tab.)

Why didn't the team come back to offer desserts? Did I NEED it. NO.but I wanted it.teas, coffees.lost opportunities.
But then I am into sales. I see opportunities and I act on them.but that's just me
Tony's after 43 plus years the meals were amazing and as good as when I had my first steak 38years ago!

Service was very slow even though they were not busy. However, the food was beautiful as always.

Great meal! Steak cooked exactly as requested. Absolutely delicious!

Returned next night! Same superb meal. Really recommend!

10/10 for delicious food, everything from our entree to dessert was fabulous. I highly recommend the Seafood Brochette and the Tiramisu dessert. The mushrrom sauce on the Ribeye Steak was superb.

All round terrible Would not recommend
One dish was sent back as it was inedible
Another dish never arrived; we learned later that they were out of mussels only when we asked where it was
Drinks arrived sporadically
The remaining dishes were not worth going out for

Never gone wrong. All of them are cook nicely and very yummy.good wine from Maud. And, I love their old interior and old cashier

We had to change our reservation time due to our plane leaving late. Tony's were so accommodating, and looked after us well, as we had a show to go to. The food is superb. Cannot recommend enough, we will be back for sure next time in Auckland.

I went here about a month ago for my birthday dinner, they were understaffed but still made it happen for everyone. The girl who was alone in front of house made the night very special by giving me a free birthday dessert that was amazing! Food was great too! Will go back here again.
