Freda Yang from Zones Landscaping came up with a concept plan to transform our fairly ordinary front deck and BBQ area off our lounge that overlooked our pool.

We really liked the plan.

Freda's concept changed " our BBQ deck with a big table" which we ate at infrequently, to an outdoor lounge that we can use every day and evening with my new BBQ layout and outdoor concrete table - we use our new outdoor kitchen and lounge deck with an outdoor heater (if we need to) most nights - it it simply stunning- it has added a new "room" to our home.

Freda was great to work with - she understood what was important to us - she got what we really needed in our deck and she came up with a plan and the concept and plan turned into reality and on time.
Freda is so good to work with. Not only does she understand the big picture - she has a very keen eye for the detail. She delivered - on time and on budget. She was/is a pleasure to work with. She was always on site with the contractors - not leaving it to others so that nothing got lost in translation.

We are now looking to do another project at our home with Freda and can't wait to see what she has in mind for us.

Had the unfortunate pleasure of getting Tracey and her team to install an artificial turf and landscaping. Damaged my drive way, standard of construction was poor didn't know how to drill into the decking causing splits and cracks. Used my tools and damaged it.

I had Zones Landscaping to remodel my garden in 2020 which valued at nearly NZD150k including new fence, patio, pergola, drainlayer. The pergola they subcontracted to Manson Engineering did a poor job. The conjunction between the lovour and PVC roof which was designed by Zones has been leaking from the time it was installed and getting worse over time. Manson sent a few their guys trying to fix it by putting in more sealants but it just not working. I had a builder come and inspect it and he advised the panel of the PVC roof is not measured and made to the right dimensions to cover the joint properly that led to the leaks. Now both Zones and Manson Engineering just don't respond and take the responsibility to fix the faults! I paid all the progress payment on time which I probably should not have! It's just a total disappointment for the money I paid for the project!

When my project was nearly finished, Zones' GM came over to visit my garden but not even a phone call Zones made so far for my complaint!

We hired Zones to design and complete our landscaping project, which included decking, retaining walls, steps, garden beds, fence and drainage works. Initially what started off positively, has turned into a complete nightmare.
To cut a very long story short, there are at least 12 outstanding issues, that remain unresolved since June 2022. Some of these issues are compliance related, for example fence posts were used instead of retaining posts on one of the retaining walls - the retaining wall is now leaning out. A 10mm gap is required between the deck and the house - the decking is virtually right up against the house, etc.
The quality of some of the workmanship and care with which the work was carried out also leaves much to be desired - crooked retaining walls, unevenly spaced posts, concrete splatter on the weather boards which is now caked on, uneven steps, poorly cut retaining posts, broken base board which was never replaced, areas of the deck which have not been screwed down etc.
Additionally, the Zones representative, and project manager, never completed the landscape concept designs, and never once returned to site when the building work commenced - effectively failing to satisfy the typical deliverables expected from a project manager. He did however very efficiently send me the invoice, and chase me for payment within 24 hours, having satisfied himself that the work had been completed to spec based on photos supplied by the builder. Unfortunately I was overseas and was not in a position to undertake due diligence so the invoice was paid in full in good faith - I have learnt my lesson.
Almost 8 months later, after many emails, phone calls and broken promises and many excuses, nothing has been done.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The Palmerston North franchise do not listen to you or your design concepts. It took 8 months to receive a plan that is not fit for purpose. I ended up providing the measurements for the deck that I was paying them to design? ! There is no attention to detail and no planting plan provided. Have emailed info@zones already with detail of the terrible ordeal in hopes this can be resolved internally first.

I have submitted the online enquiry form at least four times over last couple months and no luck. Guessing they don't want new customers lol

We had our backyard and decking completely revamped by Thelma at Zones and we couldn’t be happier! Thelma was professional, helpful and honest with the design and pricing, not to mention incredibly responsive to all my texts whenever I had a query! She was an expert at managing our job from start to finish, including going out of her way to ensure our new deck was completed to the highest standard. We are so happy with our new backyard, it is an absolute pleasure to see and use.

Contacted Zones (Wellington) at begining of year, was advised they are too busy and would come back to me after a couple of months. Followed up after three months, no reply, followed up again the following month and again, no reply.

Thema is very professional and trustworthy, she is a lady of her words.

We have just started a job with Zones landscaping on our new build property. Logan from the North Shore team has been super helpful and the team are super friendly. My wife even says they have great taste in music that they have been playing while working (with the odd vocal solo in the mix).
