The Landing Cafe reviews
35ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING location! I didn’t eat at the café but it seemed nice. I’d suggest just going there for the view anyway!
Great grub. Trump and I love this place.me for food and atmosphere, Trump to escape those pesky democrats, model his new maga speedos and practice his breast stroke
Although the cafe was close the day we visited, we really loved the amazing scene & the feeling is magic. Walking in the water so good. Had a hardcase photo bombing bee, which we called buZz.
Just love The Landing Restaurant. The food has been excellent. The seafood chowder amazing and the service and staff are very good. We've had lunch there for the last two Saturdays one being my birthday lunch with my sister, they also were very impressed. Thank you, we always feel its a special place to dine.
Good service and a good coffee.
Sort staff on the day l was there but service was great. Well done to you all.
Location fabulous, friendly wait staff, but food well under standard. My husband ordered fish & chips which came first (fish great, chips cold), my seafood chowder (totally tasteless!) came after he had finished his meal! When we complained we were told only 1 chef here. We were a large group but we had been asked to place our orders 2 days earlier so hardly a good excuse) When oh when will someone run this cafe well, it has a top location & entertains many overseas visitors, but its a disappointing dining experience!
Beautiful café with a calm atmosphere, even when it is busy. Staff is friendly and my food and drink were just lovely and worth every cent.
Sitting outside, I had a beautiful view on the lake as well.
When we went to The Landing Cafe. This place was very busy. We could not find another chair so my wife and I could sit together. The service was fast but we were told that there is a 30 minutes wait time for the meals. They were busy and we understood it. The front view is fantastic. The lake and the mountains on the side but the rest, the park and front of the cafe are all concrete and modern. Just look at the lake and not the sides. This place is very noisy. We would hear what our neighbours were talking about and we felt awkward. Anyway, the coffee was nice. Oh you can hire the water taxis from here too.
Locally owned cafe with stunning views of Lake Tarawera. We visit often for brunch. The menu is good, both breakfast and lunch options available as well as a selection of smoothies, coffee/tea, beer and wine. Food is usually delicious but can be a bit hit and miss sometimes when it's busier. Service is friendly and welcoming, they're occassionally short staffed; particularly in the weekends when it's busy so there can be a bit of a wait, however you can soak up the views over a beer, coffee or ice cream or even dip your feet in the lake while you wait!
Food portions are generous for the price and there's options for everyone. Parking is not always available as this is a popular swimming area and boat launch. The lake has recently had a reno with seating and a boardwalk. You can also hike the nearby track or after brunch take the water taxi across the lake to hot water beach.
Excellent fish and chips with salad, friendly staff and lovely out look, highly recommend.
I ordered one scoop of tiptop ice cream. The lady who served was not friendly and unkind. After great boating, I was quite upset.
Fabulous place to relax by the Lake. Hot chips, minus seagulls! Cold drinks to revive us on a hot day. Beautiful. Great staff. Love this place. Thank you.
I had the seafood chowder, side salad, and flat white. Ingredients were fresh and high quality, and flavor combinations were balanced, bright, and creative. Staff super friendly, view superb. Make this detour - you won't regret it!
The place is just stunning. We arrived late, almost 3pm so the cafe was quite. There was only one another table. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I cannot remember the name of the dish but I remember it was prawn skewers. I was a little bit disappointed as it wasn’t whole prawns but more like a prawn kebab. Maybe I should read better, I don’t remember if it was written on the menu. It was actually quite good. However, my friend didn’t really enjoy his dish. I will definitely be back though and try other things.
This place is really nice! It’s small and relaxed with the best view of the lake and great food. Loved my brunch, the service was nice and it was really well priced. Such a beautiful place to eat and watch the water!
Nice little café with great views. Limited options available for breakfast and lunch. Good portion sizes. The barista lacks customer service. We loved their hash browns. Belgium waffles with golden syrup, eggs Benedict with mushrooms and big breakfast
Stunning location overlooking Lake Tarawera. They sell real fruit () ice cream which was great on a sunny day.
You simply cannot beat great staff in a great location. Made my Dad's 82nd birthday lunch a memorable one. Pan fried snapper and a whiskey, lol, heaven and a view to spark memories of days gone by for him. A rare treat to be able to have full conversations about where we were. Can't thank you enough for the little extra care and delight and served up
This cafe sits right by Lake Tarawera. We often visit the moana swimming and walks. Picturesque place to sit and dine. Enjoy a ice cream plus have a lovely peaceful break away.
I cannot believe this place, it was taken over last year by someone that is just not in touch with our time zone. The food is good and fresh but very stuck in the 70/80's. It is the fact that you don't know when they are open. If you phone for a reservation you are told just come in "no reservations" if they answer.then you phone to see if they are open and you get a message from last year about open from boxing day onwards. Just went there tonight with 12 people and CLOSED what a looser. Could someone please open something at Tarawera or the other close lakes and we will all support them greatly.
