The Landing Cafe reviews
35 I was told to go here by one of the locals and was so glad I did! The restaurant is almost on the water with plenty of seating outside to watch the beautiful scenery. The ambience is relaxing and earthy, with a lovely set up of wooden tables and chairs and steel art. The service was friendly and helpful. I ordered the thai chicken curry which was really delicious. The dumplings were probably my favorite dumplings, the pastry was really thin which is so hard to find! My sister ordered the fish and chips and she said the fish was cooked to perfection and the fish was really fresh. One thing to note, the size of the meals are really generous so it might pay to either share of few of the starters or just head straight to the mains. Both the menu and drinks list is not too big where it's hard to choose. The food menu has a chicken, fish, beef and vegetarian option.
Theres plenty of parking but the parking isn't exclusive to the restaurant so i imagine it can get quiet full on a busy summer's day. Also, the toilets inside the cafe were out of order when we were there, they do have a sign referring customers to the outside toilets. Definitely recommend going here when you're in Rotorua or by lake Tarawera for a good feed with great views!
Unfortunately not busy late with orders burnt food and 3 refunds all in the hour we were there hopefully this picks up
The place is looking amazing (to go with the scenery) and with a new menu is worth the trip from Rotorua.
A beautiful cafe at the edge of an amazing lake in Rotorua, a great place have some thing to eat or drink after a swim in the lake. A lively choice of dishes on the menu and some delicious sweet treats for those who can't resist. Definitely worth find this hidden gem really worth the visit.
Had Dinner here a few times now and the Chef does a wonderful job, but the staff need to up there game and realized the need to move a bit faster and take care of there surroundings to keep there Restaurant and the beauty it is clean and tidy.
Great spot and food/drinks likewise amazing! Visited the cafe after doing the Tarawera Trail to hot water beach (which I highly recommend to anyone) and grabbed a coffee and some milkshakes. Great coffee but only let down was that they served it in a takeaway cup even tho we were sitting down. Not the best for the environment but hey, it’s alright as the excellent coffee made up for it. Thanks guys and will be back next time!
We were a little disappointed - the restaurant would not honour a current voucher that we had. Food was ok, but the service was not so great.
Had a lovely lunch here with my mother and aunt all food choices were great and the milkshake which took me back to my childhood was yummy with a great view. A very pleasant lunch.
Booked a table previous day and were greeted with staff who not only knew our table but had it set up for us. Fantastic outlook over the lake to Mt Tawawera. Food excellent and well worth the trip out from the city. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
Beautiful place by the lake, stunning views well worth the vist, we stopped for ice cream while on the duck bus. Lovely cafe.
It's a great location and amazing to be able to get food and a coffee at tarawera. But sadly the food is really average, coffee isn't great. Any chance you could raise the bar a bit in the kitchen and batista guys? I had a nachos recently and it had bolognaise mince, not chili con carne. Odd? !
Gorgeous location and really nice food. Husband declared the steak sandwich as the best one he's ever had.
Sadly it was advertised as being open on a Wednesday but it was closed. I've heard the food is great, view across the lake incredible & is dog friendly. However it's really poor advertising something will be open when it's not. We drove about 20 minutes from the Redwoods to enjoy a wonderful experience. The lake & view of Mt Tarawera is wonderful. Please organize your advertising on your building!
Come here early as soon as the cafe opens @ 10am of you want to enjoy the view of the lake get a good seat on the deck.
