The Whitehouse Cafe / Thornton Bar & Eatery

My meal Prawn Laksa was lovely, steak meals were not good we went for our work Xmas dinner. Sorry to be harsh but I am honest.

Awesome place. We happen to be there on doggy friendly day and it was great. Food was lovely and service excellent too

Wow, what an Incredible Cafe! We had a marvelous time celebrating a friend's babyshower. We were well taken care of and the service was incredible. It has been an absolute pleasure using Thornton Bar & Eatery for our event!

Have been trying to go for over a year, it's always so busy which is great, but I can say well worth the wait, went today and there we're only a few people, had the breakfast and wow best in whakatane so massive and well worth the cost. All staff were great and the place is very cosy and feels like your own back garden.

I had the Risotto and couldn't finish it. Its honestly just a sloppy tasteless mess.my friend reminded me that she thought I ordered the Risotto last time I went and didn't finish it that time either.
If I had have been asked how my meal was I would have been politely honest.
Both my friends enjoyed their lunches, All Day Breakfast and Caesar Salad, but you can't really go to wrong with those.
Sat on the deck area and it was far to hot. They need to at least put in fans or insulate or put in shade cloth to reduce the heat.
In the end we just left quickly as it was far to hot.

Went there for lunch on Saturday, not very impressed with the menu not very impressed at all sorry to say. Loved the outdoor seating and it was great having a place where you could take your pooches. Great parking though.

We had a year end function lunch at Thornton Bar & Eatery. It was such a nice experience. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and accommodating

Staff all fussed over my two dogs.little treaties each.lots room to run.will be back on the second Saturday of each month for ^doggie day^with other owners to relax in lovely outdoor setting and eat scrumptious food.

Wonderful staff, food and scenery. Just had my Mums 75th out here. Perfect! Big thank you to all the staff.
Great touch having a kids meal that isn't just deep fried things, a play ground and activities for children. You really have everything covered. Thank you thank you thank you.

Great service and food was good except hash browns were a bit oily rest of the meal was beautiful

Great hospitality my dog needed a drink and they were so accommodating. Enjoyed the wine abd quick snack. Well organised clean tidy. Always return here.

Beautiful food and the converted villa is a warm and comfortable venue. Chicken burger with baconnaise and touch of mango very tasty. Risotto was some of the best had!

Really happy to a comment on the Thornton Bar and Gril.
The staff are wonderfully helpful. The food is just the size portions and taste to work with almost every pellet. The menu is small allow the kitchen to do a set number of dishes really well, without compromising on standards. I visited as a party of twenty on a sunday, So they would have been tested and they passed with with fly colors. Well done very happy to say I will be back.

What a lovely place to take family to for a meal, great food, friendly service. Will recommend to everyone.

Beautiful place. When we requested to sit close to the fire place it was granted. My husband had a lovely gardensalad with roasted veges. The Risotto that I ordered was not up to standard. It tasted like something that came out of a sweetcorn tin. I will not be back unless I was offered a refund for my meal.

Doggy afternoon monthly arrived with my two dogs not knowing but what a great place. The food was amazing too but gorgeous place. Great grounds dogs can play. Even dog toys and treats. Ill be back next month too

A delightful spot. Dining in the country.so close to town. Lovely outdoor dining too. Very good food and friendly staff.

Xmas Lunch very Delicious. 1st Xmas Lunch for them. All setting were placed well. The service was friendly and helpful.
