Columbus at Mitre 10 Gisborne reviews
36Needs aircon - specially in heat of summer. The flies were horrendous. Coffee order mucked up. Waffles were hard
Eggs beni was great, service was fast and polite. Table hadnt been cleared and cleaned before we sat down. We sat out by the kids play centre and there were cobwebs, flys and dust every where. Bit of a shame as food was good. Cafe was full so can understand that the staff were under the pump.but it looked asthough that area hadnt been cleaned for a number of weeks or maybe a month.
Nice Food and Hot Drinks But the wait is too long so be prepared to be an hour or so it's not quick stop
Asked for a coffee nothing like I asked for and for the price of $18 for two coffees should taste like you ask but besides that service was okay but wait time for them too about 15mins
This place is amazing! Lovely coffee in Mitre 10 garden. Coffee was excellent and there is a good variety for meals too. Recommended! We had large flat white with hazelnut syrup for 8,10 or 8,90? $
Lots of parking.
Have to walk through Mitre 10 to get in and out. Would be nice to have a separate entrance.
Lots of seating inside of various styles, and outside patio style and communal by the children's playground.
Friendly service. Good selection of cabinet and menu items.
Were advised of a half hour wait on the food but waited just over an hour with quite a large discrepancy between dishes, eg 20 mins between 1st and last dish being served which made for an uncomfortable polite wait before eating together.
Meals were delicious though and of a good portion size. Loved the loaded wedges, although sauces were not served on the side as requested.
Will go back when not in a hurry due to uncertainty for meal delay times, but will likely go back.
Absolutely amazing! Fantastic coffee and food but more importantly the staff are just amazing! So friendly, Pippa went above and beyond to help when my baby knocked my drink everywhere
Service is rubbish.
Sadly staff don’t take the time to do those little extras, like bringing cutlery to eat your food with. Had it happen now three time in a row still waiting 10 mins for bloody fork!
Won’t be back anytime soon.
Visited Columbus for breakfast. Had an over half hour wait for breakfast but were informed this on ordering. Food was nice.
Staff is extremely friendly and the food is delicious. Compliments to the barista Jerome, best coffee/cafe in town, and Trish is always super friendly. Never fails to impress. Would recommend the Belgian waffles every time. They’re light and crispy yet full of flavour.
We regularly come here, a little treat on a weekend afternoon. The building is a cavern, but more than offset by the warm smiles and friendly staff. Give it a try
As usual Columbus never fails with its friendly staff and experienced coffee crafters. Food presentation and quality great. Cleanliness 5*.
A simple poached eggs on toast, but was beautiful And, as always, the people there are friendly and helpful
Had brunch here during the Christmas holidays and although busy the service was pretty quick. Food was great and so was the service.
Ordered food and drinks and while our drinks arrived fairly quickly we had to wait 35minutes for our granddaughters drink. When we queued up to enquire about it we were told “ they’d just have to bring it out then. ” No apology or explanation given by counter or serving staff. Disappointing from a cafe that has reasonably good vegan options and is supposedly family friendly.
Coffee was barely warm and way to sweet had a carrot cake that was well past it (stale) lack of communication between counter and barista saw our first coffee sent back. Will pass next time
Food and coffee good however today (12.9), girl on coffee machine wore mask incorrectly, not across nose, then she pulled it down under chin, leaving her nose and mouth exposed!
The food is pretty decent for the price. Gets quite busy on weekends. The eating area by the playground could use more greenery as it feels quite cold and prison-like with all the concrete. A bigger window out to the river would have been better as you cannot see the river unless you're right next to the window.
Really nice and friendly staff, food was good and coffee was as good as everyone else has said it is.
Perfectly decent ginger crunch and a lovely little spot sat amongst the plants of the garden centre.
