You get what you pay for if not more, that's why 5*. Nice people, great showers and loud trucks passing at night

Best place iv stayed. Blake is the captian and runs a great ship. Wednesday is international food night where all the people staying create a meal they want to share. Every night everyone hangs out and everyone is friendly. Sometimes Blake and some of the other pirstes go fishing and we have fish and chips for dinner. Top notch place to stay.

Probably the best backpacker in all over NZ. If you pass by Gizzy you need to stop there, friendly people, cute cats and very nice owner. A definitely recommend it

The most beatiful place for camping in North Island. Definitelly Pirate Ship is cool because you can met there friendly backpackers, owner and too cute cats and enjoy lot of fun and make new friends. If you looking for job, best place where you can find it around Gisborne. If you passing trought Gisborne, make a stop there. Highly recomended for everyone.

Spent 2 months here whilst working on a nearby farm. An awesome place, full of awesome people. Whether you’re looking for work or just want to experience Gisborne, I can’t reccomend The Pirate Ship enough.

Very messy place but friendly people who drink a lot of alcohol and do a lot of drugs. Also good showers.

Great campground, a must crash in for everybody considering themselves a backpacker or traveler. Awesome people free WiFi and always interesting young people to hang out with. Blake is the character that u do not wanna miss on your journey. Wether it's a carfe in the morning, bacon egg or beer or even a job he s the one to ask.

Perfect place for a backpackers. Excellent vibe and friendly people. The facilities are kind of dirty but you'll feel very comfortable with the place anyways. I bet you come for a night and stay a whole month. It happened to me and my girlfriend and most of the great people we met here.
