Eastend Cafe & Bar reviews
42 Looked like it might be good but service was so slow- well for us who were not locals - we waited 20 min for bacon & eggs and gave up when 2 lots of locals came in after us and were served - and no it was not just counter food. Then the cook - can't say chef - laughed and thought it funny when we just wanted the money back.
Very very disappointing.
Food was excellent, service was rubbish. They Incorrectly took our order and made us wait 45 minutes with 3 children under 5 before realising even though we mentioned twice we were waiting for pancakes. No apology was given. Orange juice was a rip off it was mainly ice. Left feeling angry and stressed and my partner hungry. Wouldn't go again.
Nice cafe with character, unfortunately was a bit let down by the chicken brie cranberry pie. Was excited reading the other reviews and had high expectations. The wait was very long, and whilst the pie did come out piping hot, and the presentation was good, unfortunately the pie was a bit soggy, and neither of us were too taken by the taste. Interesting to try but a let down.
They serve health food and sit down meals I drop in there on my way to work and have bacon eggs chips toast and milk shake before going to work.
Ran out of most food options by 1: 15 pm which is ok but the woman behind the counter was quite short in her approach telling me this. The woman who brought my food out was lovely though. From the reviews it seems like it’s usually a great spot so maybe the woman behind the counter was having an off day. Food was average.
Nice cafe in Wairoa. Possibly the best one. Very busy. We ordered cappuccino and flat white plus a chocolate raspberry brownie. It was really good. Standard price. The lady at the counter could be a bit more friendly but I understand everyone was quite busy and she's trying to get the order quickly. Beautiful spot by the river. Recommended!
Nice friendly cafe in Wairoa along the river with hundertwasser style front entry. Served by a very sweet German now kiwi girl. Fun place.
Best cafe in Wairoa! Menu different each day, selection of organic juices, seasonal food, gf options, friendly enough staff, always busy there! Wairoa is lucky to have it.
Seriously good coffee. Busy local cafe, seemed to be many local clients which is always a good indicator, indoor and outdoor seating. Check out the display of cutlery embedded in the entry walkway, some one had a clever idea, we enjoyed it here
Excellent range of delicious food from healthy to one off treats. Cozy and friendly. A diamond in the rough
Good coffee, tasty food, lovely decor, nice location. Only sad bit - cars outside block view of river.
I have coeliac disease and never find anything gluten free to take away that is both unique and delicious.anywhere.
I stopped in briefly on our way South from Gisborne and found your curried cauli tart. I enjoyed it immensly!
Not only was it yummy, the GF pastry was beautiful and the pepitas on top finished it off.
Congrats and regards,
Lesley from Tassie, Australia
Awesome food and great staff. Well worth calling in for lunch. Very clever tile artwork in the entrance.
I go out of my way to stop here on my trips. Love the poached eggs breakfast with their very well made coffee.
Had lovely eggs Benedict with salmon (Montreal) and a cappuccino - very happy)
Nice Hollondaise, perfectly poached eggs, yummy ciabatta and good smoked salmon.
Very friendly and welcoming staff!
The only place in Wairoa that consistently serves excellent Havana coffee and high quality cafe food. I love it! Parking right outside, WiFi, everything I have ever eaten there is delicious, and I go there every time I am in Wairoa. Sandwiches, breakfast, scones, cake. Try them all
Great coffee, and what can only be described as hands down the yummiest walnut and carrot muffin, fluffy but dense but moist and full of flavour, with, if it's possible, even yummier cream cheese frosting. Thanks:)
Eastend Cafe is our favourite by far in our town. I am there at least 3 times a week and the service is always fantastic
I kid you not. I had the best coffee here that I've had on this trip to NZ. Hate to say it, better than Oz. Staff great. Service super fast. Food delish. I could go on, but gotta find a pub somewhere in Gisborne.
Excellent stop off lunch. High quality and character, very good coffee and omelettes. Beside the river.
