Pacifica Restaurant reviews
62Don't go for the meat option, it's just terrible, my wife had the seafood option and it was really nice. The courses came out really quickly, would have expected better from.a place that charges that much for the set menu. There are better options in Napier - Avoid.
$75 seafood degustation was tasty but underwhelming and disappointing. I left hungry because every course was small and liquified, incl the dessert. If it wasn’t a small blot of purée with something on top, it was a seafood flavoured broth with smallest pieces of squid and chopped mussels served with an ice cream Sunday spoon. Won’t be going back. At the table we discussed this with staff and asked for appropriate cutlery. Importantly, table service was very pleasant. Since relaying this to others, several said they had the same experience so clearly this wasn’t an anomaly.
Recognize that it's Degustation, but the courses were the smallest I have seen, ever. Excellent quality, but just tiny. Good reputation let down a little in my opinion.
Disappointing, meals were very small (most of us went home and ate more food to be content). Wine match didn't match so well, food lacked impact. Staff very attentive.
More hype than substance. The service was great, but portions in the 5 course seafood degustation were tiny, with mostly foam or small amounts of soup and little to fill you. Like many other reviewers have stated, we also left hungry and had to eat again elsewhere.
A couple of the (tiny) dishes were nice, however, some were very disappointing - like a glorified half onion in wine sauce.
If you're planning to have the degustation menu, think of it as a 5 course entree and plan to have a proper meal somewhere afterwards.
Qualität und Quantität entsprachen nicht meinen Wünschen an ein Restaurant dieser allgemeinen Reputation.
Quality of food is very good and makes you wish that there was more of it, but it is a degustation menu. Because the courses are so small, the overall experience does feel inherently rushed although the service was excellent.
This was one of our favourite dining experiences in New Zealand. Went just before New Years with friends and they were Great in accommodating us.
Warm and inviting ambiance topped with great service. Pacific offers degustation menu only with a choice between seafood or meat each with optional extra charge wine pairings. The first two courses are the same for both menus (smoked warehou mayonnaise on potato mash, pumpkin & mossarella pasta w/ tomato & olive oil puree) while the final course offers a choice between two different desserts (rum & raisin bread pudding or a cheese, honey and fig bread). I was disappointed with my 3rd course venison carpaccio with creamy parmesan polenta, as the sauce overpowered the taste of the venison. However the 4th course of corned beef (prepared 2 ways) with oxtail broth was delightful. The local hohepa cheese served on the 5th course was yummy especially with the little fig bread. Overall very nicely done with little pretense and great Kiwi friendliness.
Fantastic service and great atmosphere but had to be disappointed with paying a reasonable amount for the 6 course menu and then getting lemon fish floating in a grey cabbage broth on the seafood menu and corned beef on the mixed menu? Wouldnt expect to get those low budget foods at a gourmet restaurant. Was pretty disappointed that our menu wasnt a lot of 'seafood' as advertised.
Went here on Friday night for dinner. First off the service was outstanding! Extremely knowledgable and attentive. The food was sublime (three of us did the seafood and meat degustation one did the seafood only menu) the wine matches were on point and overall a Devine dining experience. Would highly recommend and would go back in a heartbeat.
Clean, not complicated yet a rich, fabulous taste palette of food with fantastic service! Thank you Pacifica for a great dining experience in Napier.
Not all courses were created equal but overall very enjoyable food. Staff were great and atmosphere lovely.
This was the second time I tried a set menu / fancy dining with degustation menu. The staff were very accommodating even though I arrived unbooked and late and managed to get me a seat and t he whole experience.
The fine dinning experience is expensive in general.
This place was doing a seafood menu and was 70$ so kind of cheaper than places. Total 100$ with the drinks.
The menu as below was pretty nice and I really liked the Parmesan foam. Never had it before.
Overall this place was definitely 4-4.5 and the considering seafood, it was probably worth the money. Taste was definitely 5. The staff were very attentive and I enjoyed.
However a once off experience for occasions.
Delicious food but we left the restaurant hungry. I'm attaching the main meal's picture. (it's a 5 course set menu. Grove - Auckland style. But with very small portions.) You decide for yourselves.
Top notch service & food. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We loved the whole experience and it is well worth a visit!
Visiting from Australia and chose Pacifica for its 3 hat rating. We were certainly not disappointed! Wonderful food with flavours that always complemented the dish. We did the wine pairing as well, and all wines were perfectly matched with the corresponding dish and we got to try some wines that were different to what we had encountered before. The service was friendly but professional. The restaurant is set in a quaint little cottage that adds to the ambience. Highly recommended.
We dined here on the night of 2nd Sept. The staff delivered attentive services and we felt welcomed and looked after. Food was a great display of local produces, exceptional value for money. We look forward to dining again when we visit Napier next time.
My husband and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary here after a friend recommended it to us and I'm so glad we took her advice.
The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!
Consistently the best dining experience in Hawkes Bay. Incredible how they keep coming up with new, interesting and just absolutely delicious combos all the time. Topped off by friendly, humble service. Would give more stars if I could.
