Pacifica Restaurant reviews
62Always a wonderful experience here. We had the seated 5 course seafood menu with wine match. Lovely staff who take the time to explain the wines and how they pair with the food and also explain the food. Every was seasoned to perfection.
What a treat!
I loved everything about Pacifica: the atmosphere was relaxed; the staff were welcoming, hugely knowledgeable and passionate; both menus were surprising and delicious with amazing pairings to elevate them further.
I couldn't recommend the experience enough!
Can't wait to return, food was fabulous, service was exceptional. A fine dining experience without pretention; must do experience!
If you like seafood and you are in Napier. Do yourself a favour and book a table here. The meals are divine and they are beautifully presented. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
$75 seafood degustation was tasty but underwhelming and disappointing. I left hungry because every course was small and liquified, incl the dessert. If it wasn’t a small blot of purée with something on top, it was a seafood flavoured broth with smallest pieces of squid and chopped mussels served with an ice cream Sunday spoon. Won’t be going back. At the table we discussed this with staff and asked for appropriate cutlery. Importantly, table service was very pleasant. Since relaying this to others, several said they had the same experience so clearly this wasn’t an anomaly.
When food is done right. It's perfect, and tonight was PERFECT.
I've been to Napier a few times and I was recommended by many of my foodie friends to try Pacifica, thankfully, my bestie managed to get us a early booking for a table of four. We arrived on time to be greeted with sparkly eyes (as the wait staff were all masked) we were swept away to a cosy table in the middle of the restaurant. I could see the head chef between the weaved partitions of the simple yet unpretentious decor which hang comfortably in a sort of Vale type setting. It was humming and the vibe was perfect for a post Xmas dinner. We had two wait staff both very different in personality but equally professional and absolutely delightful. Three out of four of us decided to do the seafood degustation one the meat degustation, all with wine matches (in the most beautiful glassware). The wait staff were incredibly wonderful when Introducing each dish and each wine match, with both ease and detail without the fuss. Every dish was magnificent and the pairings (most locally) were equally as divine. This place really is special, I loved that the owner/head chef was in the kitchen carefully orchestrating his dishes seamlessly and effortlessly, something you rarely see in a restaurant. There was a sort of reverence about this place, a nostalgic comforting air about it. At $130 (wine pairing incl) this was an absolute steal for such an incredible degustation. I will definitely be back to try more wonderful dishes in the near future. KA PAI PACIFICA thank you.
Beautiful evening, stunning Hawke's Bay weather and seaside location Fine dining, great service.
Visited recently to partake in the seafood degustation, sadly without matching wines as I was the driver. If you are in Napier and love seafood, this is where to go!
Booked a table at this restaurant in advance and have to say their menu surprised me quite a bit. The chef loved using flavoured food foam in 2/4 dishes in its 4 course menu. You can pick either a seafood or meat direction for their menu. I chose the seafood direction and they all tasted fabulous. The portion size is just enough for a person, which I thought this is a great balance personally since I don't like the feeling of getting too full after a meal. In terms of ingredients, very normal but somehow the chef uses its creativity to elevate the ingredients to a level of fine dining. In terms of flavour, I know their menu is seasonal but it seems that there are a lot of Asian inspired flavours (e.g. Miso, soy sauce, dashi, coconut spiced curry etc). Give it a good if you ever stop by Napier. Just need to book in advance.
Once again, surpasses all expectations. It just gets better and better. Couldn’t have spent a nicer evening for our wedding anniversary. Thanks so much to the team at Pacifica
Second time visit. Loved the Ceviche, Warehou and Flounder. Beautiful, different flavours. I thought the cheese board was underwhelming, very little cheese! More coffee than caramel flavour in the bavarois.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
What a fantastic restaurant. The food was spectacular in taste and looks. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff so attentive. It was worth every cent. Will definitely be back next time were in Napier.
We've been to many restaurants from Auckland to Wellington and had some amazing food. But I promise you, nowhere matches the amazing dishes they offer. Behind the small blue exterior on the parade hides the best you will ever taste. From the sweet breads to the cheese and everything in-between. An intimate little place with the friendliest of people. This is my 2nd review and our fifth visit. 5 course degustation menu and not one drop was left. There's no point going to Napier if you don't visit Natalie and Jeremy. Do not miss the opportunity to eat there.
Went here for dinner with my partner during our stay in Napier and had a very amazing dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back on our next Napier trip.

Delicious degustation paired with amazing wines. Very accomodating when I asked if I could have a vegetarian set menu. High recommend.
Recognize that it's Degustation, but the courses were the smallest I have seen, ever. Excellent quality, but just tiny. Good reputation let down a little in my opinion.
Our favourite restaurant in Napier. Jeremy's magic in the kitchen left our taste buds humming and Natalie's wine matches were perfect. We love the small intimate space that is not over crowded and the fact we are never rushed, a real treat. The only thing that lets them down is the extremely casual dress of the wait staff, shorts and a black tee shirt does not quite hit the mark when the guests are all dressed nicely for a night out.
The food was excellent and the service fantastic.spot on. We chose a seafood based degustation and the meat based. We were very happy after our first 2 courses but amazingly the next 2 courses were even more stunning. The dessert was perfect and not too sweet. Loved the night and the special staff
Booked in for a Saturday first time visit. Warm welcome. Choice of two menus, both degustation. One was sea food and the other mixed with a couple of meat based dishes. Had in effect six courses which were interesting and delightfully prepared. All new tastes and ingredients.
